Ok the 1000 extrapoints deal is off but the 20£ is loaded on the Sim which was not there before. So amongst the iphone PAYG providers this is the best deal.

I cant see any mention of a years free internet with the tesco sim? do you get that? maybe I just cant see it on the website but if you dont get it then a 20 pound topup doesnt make it as good a deal as 02 payg with a years free access imho.

havent voted yet-think it is a good deal if you get 12 months free web but if not then 02 is better imho.

I am pretty sure this can be unlocked/jail broken but does it work with the o2 sim in it

I unlocked my iphone 3g PAYG from o2 and I didnt loose my free web and wifi. All i did was put in my dads contract o2 sim number and submitted the unlock form. They sent me a message after 48 hrs saying my iphone was unlocked.

Although its very clearly stated on tht title of the post, for those not so swtiched on with iPhone, this is a 3G & not the 3GS version of the iPhone.

Not voting either way.

I Have just ordered one and they have agreed to give me the 1000 extra clubcard points. So £1684 points + 20 top up = Almost 87 pounds worth with free internet and Wi fi for 12 months

I'm a little confused. Can this be unlocked straight away because it's PAYG? Or do you need to wait 12 months. I've just got a new Vodafone contract sim deal and wondering whether this can be used with it? And how much would it cost me per month to get an internet package with Vodafone? Can you just pay an extra fiver or something?

Was the 1000 extra points deal ever on for iPhones? I bought an iPhone 3GS 16Gb in the first week of Tesco getting them. Prior to that I could have sworn that the web page stated that you got 1000pts plus double clubcard points. However, by the day I went to purchase it (the day after Tesco received them), the 1000 pts had mysteriously dissappeared from the webpage. Since I couldn't prove it (didn't bother to print a copy of the webpage) I ended up buying the phone without the 1000pts.

In the end I took the phone back for other reasons.

Just wondered if anyone did actually get 1000pts?

Edit: Forget that, just been to the Tesco website to see that the 3GS does now come with 1000 free points. Yes, I know this is the 3G and not the 3GS.

Edit2: OK, despite the Tesco website stating all 3GS and 3G iPhones come with 1000 points, when you go to purchase one, it doesn't seem to. To anyone who buys one I would take a printout of the website and stick to your guns - will teach Tesco to stop putting up conflicting web pages.

The offer of 1000pts has expired now. But it is still on their webpage. So they have said they will send me an extra £10 quid tesco voucher that is equivalent to 1000 clubcard points. Plus the 684 points for the iphone and 20 pound top up loaded. Also note Tesco have not increased the VAT so 3G is still 342£. so another 3% saving. for o2 are selling the 3G one for 349 quid

Any ideas how i would keep my current mobile number (o2) on this deal?

Did you buy on-line or did you ring them?

I've just made a screen shot of the 1000 pts. How shall i use it against them?

Thanks

You need to ring TESCO direct. I think its an 0845 no. Tell them you want to buy the iphone and the 1000 xtra points is on the website and they will hopefully honour it.

after all the hype, whatever happened to the "iphone wars", still seem b***y expensive to me

i.e how long do you think it wil be until we see a BNIB 8 or 16gb 3gs for under 300 ?

am getting more n more tempted by those £67 look-a-likeys from asia :w00t:

Just got mine from Tesco. Downloaded itunes. Put in Tesco PAYG worked.
Then put in the O2 simplicity sim and it still works .!!!!!!!.So an Iphone with 800 mins 1600 texts and unlimited web for 460 quid( 342 for iphone and 120 for the 02 sim after quidco)
Plus 20£ preloaded tesco PAYG
Plus unlimited wifi via my N95
Plus 1684 points = 67 worth in deals. It cant get any sweeter than this.

I'm in dispute with them about this.

When i ordered my iPhone a few days ago, the 1000 points was on their Website. I'm trying to claim this but they said i took the screen shot 2 weeks ago and are accusing me of making it up.

Anyway to prove when the screen shot was taken? Or is it their words against mine?

No advantage of buying from apple other than you can ue it with any sim I guess though you are better off with tesco:
£342 - sO £7 saving
Clubcard points - So vouchers 28£ equivlent in deals
£20 Loaded - Saving
Unlimited web + wifi (Similar to o2)
Plus you can still buy the O2 sim only deal with quidco and get loads of mins texts and landline calls for a tenner.

Didn't the printer put the time and date on the print-out? Although they could probably still argue that you modified it.

I spent a while trying to retreive the original one (back in December) from my cache - I couldn't manage it - tried everything.

The web page in December was changing on an almost daily basis.

I took mine back 2 weeks after I bought it. Didn't open it until a week after purchase (wanted a Christmas pressie to open) so you could always take it back for a refund if they flatly refuse. They may, at that point, decide that it is cheaper for them to give you the £10 voucher.
