I called Motorola about the class 10 card issue and they sent me a free 16GB card. Very good customer service <3

What number did you call and what did you say?

Customer Support telephone number:
0870-9010-555

And here is a summery of my conversation with Motorola CS

Me: I've just purchased a Moto G 4G from Tesco and having problem with the micro sd card. it just keeps unmounting.
Moto CS: Well sir there is a reported problem with the high speed cards with Moto G, which should be fixed with the 4.4.4 update. but in the mean time we can send you an 8GB card, so that you can use it till the problem get fixed with the new update.
Me: that would be wonderful, but when can I expect to get this new update.
Moto CS: We can't say anything at the moment, but it will be rolled out very soon.
Me: Ok will keep on checking the website for updates.
Moto CS: Thank you. Could you please give me your phone's IMEI number and your address for the card to be sent.
Me: Sure. :)

A few days later I received a Toshiba 16gb card in the post, and a Customer Service survey link to be completed.

I haven't swapped my 32gb in the phone as yet but will post an update here, if its working with the new 4.4.4 update. I am not sure if Motorola will send any cards through now as the new update has already rolled out, but someone whose phone is still on 4.4.3 can give Moto CS a try on the above posted number. They will promise an 8GB card but you might end up with a 16GB card like me.

Hope this would help someone.

voted hot ( not just because of the price ) as the Op explained the repost. People do miss some of the better deals as they become archived quickly.

Yes, they are locked to Tesco network, but unlocking is very easy and cheap. you can try some unlock codes on ebay for £1.50 or less.

Will unlocking void the warranty?

If so, maybe better spending the extra £4 for the sim free version.

I have just noticed this qualifies for club card boost £5 = £10 so if you have vouchers it’s a really good deal.

No, but people keep adding Moto G & G2/G3 bloat to this site on an hourly basis.

Does anyone know how the memory/disk space is allocated on this for the Anrdoid OS?

I have a Samsung S2 which came with 2GB Memory and 16GB RAM or something like that. Turns out the apps can only be installed to the 2GB, or is that 1GB partition, leaving the other 16GB only available for things like photos. The phone has been fine but as the OS partition has filled up the phone has begun to crawl.

Doing a google on it it appears to be a common problem with Samsung phones - pretty pointless paying extra for that extra disk space. You can't move apps to the free disk space nor can you alter the sizes. Basically rubbish and it has put me off buying a Samsung ever again.

So, just curious if anyone knows what the OS partition size is on this Moto?

I bought a 16gb 3G version for £129 (£119 after code) less than 2 weeks ago. Is it worth it to go for the 4G one instead? Is the 4G and memory card slot worth the effort?

What is the best Sim deal to go with this phone? given that to fully appreciate the 4G capability you may need more than 1GB data per month.
I'm tempted by this: a contract with Tesco mobile with 2 GB data works out at £384 over 24 months (including the phone). So if at (best) £120 for the phone, this would need a Sim deal less than (£384-120 = £264, over 24 months =) £11/month. Any suggestions? What are Tesco mobile like? Which network do they use?

Had a play with my friends newly bought moto g last week and am amazed at how good it is for the price.

Easily as good as my £500 iPhone 5.

Contemplating getting the 16gb 3G version. No 4G in my area yet so not interested in that and would rather have more inboard memory.

If people don't notice the Moto G deals on here from Tesco then there is absolutely no hope for them.

Cynicism aside this *is* a fantastic deal & there's a lot of useful info on this thread.

Do the battery covers also come with the unlocked model?

Also does the Tesco mobile model have any branding at all like a Tesco boot logo?

Incredible phone and now with 4G. At £135 (even before the voucher discounts) this is superb value. Hot

@ Tawse. I had the same problem with the wife's Samsung SII. You may be already aware. If not, dial *#9900# on your phone and select option 2, Delete dumpstate/logcat. This clears out all the old logfiles, and helped in my case.

Thanks. Been doing that but it does really solve the problem for more than a few days or even a few hours. It is akin to the days when PC makers used to make a really small partition for the Windows OS and that would both fill up and slow down PCs.

I know it is off-topic but it is something which I now think is important to consider when buying a new smartphone and, most certainly, it has put me off ever buying a Samsung again.
