Even if it was lcoked (which it probably is btw) it would work on O2 since Tesco Mobile uses O2's network as it's carrier

HOT!! This is a bargain for a pretty feature packed phone! I had the Nokia 5800 for the last year, and loved it, this is only missing the Wifi, stereo speakers and 3.2MP cam, but no great loss IMO!

My fault, I thought a 5230 phone was a 5230 phone generally. I ordered one and wanted to unlock it - so do I just have to bring it to a unlock shop? Thanks for your advice

AFAIK this has now been stopped on most handsets.

Paid £99 for this a few weeks ago.... £65 is a very good price.

I really like it - great for music (3.5mm headphone jack & will take a 16Gb microSD card) & you get free Ovi maps with this - so free satnav & free world map updates for ever. TomTom going on eBay soon! :)

No it wouldn't

Tesco do use o2 network but a tesco locked phone will not accept an o2 simcard

Heat n Repped ya!

got this on vodaphone a few weeks ago for £72. It was not locked and I promptly put in my asda sim card (excellent PAYG rate!). Love the phone - for the price it is excellent. It's no iphone, true, but neither is the cost!

Oh, and it doesn't have wifi which is a shame, but it does have GPS with FREE ovi maps - basically turns it into a satnav. You need to go and get the maps from from ovi/nokia store but the important thing to note is that you do not need to connect to the internet to use the maps so the service is free.

And its a pretty good music player too - the ovi music interface (again done via your PC) will import your tunes from itunes and then you can put as many as you want onto your phone via the included micro SD card.

All in all, love this phone for the price!

Heated up!

anyone confirm this is an Tesco mobile locked phone?

could just be a unbranded one?

great price though!
#24
Grabbit, do you work in a phone shop? Always seem to know everything about phones.
#25
Not quite as cheap but you can get it from the Carphone Warehouse on Vodafone pay as you go for £78 plus £10 top up. They are unbranded and unlocked.
#26
arrgh, forgot to mention, this is a cut down version of the 5800, so it doesn't include the stylus (has a crappy plectrum thing which I never use) and neither does it include a usb cable to connect to your pc - which is a must if you ask me.

So... these may be negatives, but you can get a decent usb cable from ebay for £2 and you won't look back.
#27
bought one earlier. just need to figure out how to get it onto vodafone now...

anyone know if i can ring up tesco/vodafone and ask them to unlock it for free?

Ah but my friend, you could be wrong. As I am on the Tesco network, and have also an o2 phone. When I have inserted the o2 sim, into tesco(effectly o2) it doesnt work. Maybe its just mine. Thou I be cascious about this.

Tesco will charge £25 to unlock it,just go down the local mobile shop or market, they will charge around a £10,as i had one done last week-it's a sl3,these are very hard to unlock by code, unless you try tesco themselfs!

HEAT ADDED FOR THIS PRICE :)
#33
Also if your ordering this phone online, I would try and go through quidco or topcashback. You should get some money backf from it.

Anyway some one who mentioned about e2save. I picked up a cracking deal from there. Samsing s3100 for 14.95 + had to purchase ten pound vodaphone. Then you get 6.50 cashback.. So might be worth looking on there first of all, and see what deals they got. Dont work for them by way. Just trying to help

I work for tesco and im 99% sure that they've changed it so that you cant insert an 02 sim into a tesco mobile phone anymore.
