750mins and 2GB data on the O2 network
4G available for £2.50 extra

Rolling 30 day contract with no credit check with bill cap option.

Seems a good tariff for someone like me who's had enough of OVIVO but not wanting any 12 month commitment or bill surprises.

Tried GiffGaff before and found their platform unreliable.

Quidco / TopCashBack available for equivalent of 1 month cost (£12.50 / £12.60)

+ 5000 texts

Tempted, for the same reason. Loved ovivo initially and I haven't paid for a call or text in months but those adds are driving me nuts!

Was thinking of going with Ovivo. Take it you wouldn't recommend?
Don't use phone much, maybe 20 mins, and 30 texts a month, also mostly use wifi.
Was thinking ovivo would be ideal.

A credit check is completed with Equifax for Tesco Mobile. Same goes with Virgin Mobile.

Would 3 one plan not be better

Depends how much data you need really. If 2gb ain't enough for you then yes the one plan would be a good choice with no data limit

The application specifically says no credit check when you apply for capped version.

Probably was there a few months ago -
I've been looking for the past few weeks and certainly wasn't available a few days ago via my local store or Tesco mobile website.

OVIVO is ok but adverts seem to be increasing and the data is frequently slow or not working.
I've been having problems with voice calls recently but that might just be a local issue.

Just bought one of these today, been with O2 for 18 years (since they were BT Cellnet) on an old 30 day simplicity tariff, 600 mins, 1200 txt, unlimited data (no tethering though) for £21.07 a month. Spoke to O2 yesterday said the tariff was no longer competitive, not bothered about mins or text but need at least 1gb data. Offered me 24 month, 300 mins, unlimited text & 500mb for £17.50 with £150 account credit, told him I needed at least 1Gb so he offered a 4G contract with unlimited text/call + 1gb data for £21 with no cash back. I don't have a 4G phone & no 4G coverage so he tells me I can use wifi? and it's no cheaper than what I'm paying now. Eh. PAC obtained, swap to this tariff

For a rolling contract with no phone why would you need a credit check you don't pay you don't get the min that's the way every thing in life should be you don't work you don't eat ;)

Surely you would just use giffgaff though as it uses O2, how is their platform unreliable?
Only asking as I'm going either ovivo or giffgaff in a month, annoying I only have a iPhone 5 so only 4G option is with orange! Got offered jack all through their disconnections

GiffGaff doesn't use the same billing platform as O2 or Tesco Mobile.
Their online system had frequent outages when I used them and they had no backup.

I have had tesco mobile 30 day contract now for nearly 2 years now and their is no credit checks for it, and service is fine
#16
Pretty attractive package. Which network is tesco mobile on?
#17
Tesco is on o2
I have just switched to this deal as Ovivo coverage was dire where i frequent and the ads were getting irritating.

also have a look at the 12.50 contract deal that includes the Motorola moto G phone. great value and even better if you get 2 or more with the family extras.

I took out this exact plan last month, went on live chat before taking it to see what quidcp/cashback I could get and was told they don't do any, thinking about it now the person I spoke to probably didnt have a clue what quidco was and fobbed me off, does anyone know for sure?

Exactly the same here. Left them last week. O2 really have lost their way. Used to be a great deal. Not anymore. They announced another price rise yesterday as well. Tesco even use O2's network so you can see how much O2 are ripping people off!

My oher half signed up for the £10 deal last week. There is no credit check because you pay the first month's line rental when you buy the contract. So line rental is billed in advance. The only thing they're potentially giving you credit for is the amount of the "extras" cap, in our case £5.

The switch-over from her Tesco PAYG account to the SIM-only deal didn't go well as we needed a new SIM and the person in the Tesco store got the new SIM number wrong. A quick call to customer services and it was sorted in less than 5 minutes. Very pleased so far.

Ive switched from O2 to OVIVO and then to giffgaff. I wouldnt ever go back to ovivo. They use the vodafone network which is terrible. Three dropped calls in one day and the internet hardly worked. When it did the ads were too obtrusive. Since changed to giffgaff and had no problems at all!
#24
I have never experienced any outages with Giffgaff, and they have back up from other Giffgaff users (who are encouraged to help with rewards), and from Giffgaff agents as well. They have some good non contract plans that tend to be very competitive. I was with Tesco previously and Giffgaff communication is far superior in my opinion.
#25
I was with giffgaff and to me there internet was a let down...then I moved to tesco and there net is good now im going to try ovivo and see how that pans out.

You see the problem here is that the people who have had outages aren't with GiffGaff any more, like me Ergo the people who are with GiffGaff probably haven't had outages. And the agents would say that, wouldn't they? It proves very little.

Been with Tesco mobile for about 3 years now and been happy enough with the service but the last 3-4 months my internet has been very poor, phone signal has been fine but no internet. Tried altering the settings to no avail, I just wonder if O2 are pushing tesco users down on the system.

12 month sim only comes with DOUBLE the mins - 1500mins for the same price £12.50 and if you later decide to upgrade to a Handset contract they will waiver off the remaining cost of the sim only contract. !!HOT!! NO CREDIT CHECK!! CAPPED!!
#29
Been this price for a while, got mine last nov at this price. Still hot for the 2gb data tho

I certainly am not an agent!

Me neither. But I'm not sure what that's got to do with anything.

I've got a similar deal with Tesco, the only difference being 650mins at £10 a month. I personally wouldn't pay £2.50 for the extra 100 minutes (partly because I don't use them all, more of a data usage man).
Best thing I ever did leaving the money grabbing bar stewarts EE.
A very good deal but not "hot" IMO only.

Yep-, These Tesco deals generally seem to be Very Good, and service is excellent. Got my young teen son onto a Tesco contract a year ago, we have had no problems at all. Now my O2 contract has ended and they are not in least bit interested in keeping my business (2 conversations with them about new contracts lead to no deal being offered at all, and they have simply supplied my PAC when requested) I'm going to go down this route, price can't be beaten in my estimation and if I join his existing account we'll get free calls between us, and we'll both get 'perks' - he'll be delighted to get double his current 500mb of data.

Voted hot for this

The 12 month contract looks OK too for 1500 mins if you don't mind signing up to 12 months.
#36
Can you pay via debit/credit card does anyone know?
#37
Like every rolling payment contract the details is in your credit report, unfortunately my 30 day contract/s were open ages ago so it's not in my latest searches:

I was on this deal. Living in Birmingham I had regular network issues, with calls dropping etc. now on Virgin for 15 per month rolling all unlimited. works great so far.

Same here - had been on O2/BT Cellnet since 1999. Used to get a reduction on the tariff but not any more. Didn't particularily want all the extra mins/data that Tesco offered, but it was cheaper even if I don't use it all. Can't understand O2's policy especially as Tesco are using their network - maybe that's why!

There is a credit check for any SIM only contract ......

Tesco don't seem to do good cashback .... don't know about mobile, but i've never got cashback from tesco direct ..... it gets tracked then taken off .....
