£25 to unlock??? u wanna get ripped off? u can get a phone unlocked for bout 8£ from high street mobile shops (not official network stores) or from your local market stalls for £10.

I've been quoted £15 to unlock a Tesco Nokia 1208 - it seems Tesco Mobile handsets are "really locked down with lots of security and take a while to unlock, mate". It needs a pc+cable rather than a remote code, apparently.

Alternatively, you could get an 'i-SmartSim 2008 SIM Card Unlock Attachment for Nokia' from DealExtreme for $7.26 delivered. You have to cut a notch in the SIM for it to fit but I found that it works a treat in these Nokia 1208 phones.

This applies to all locked 1208s not just Tesco. Modern Nokias can no longer be unlocked by a code generated from the IMEI.

Not with the Viewty you can't. They have to go direct to LG for the code to be generated and the code isn't 100% successful anymore meaning it might have to be sent direct to LG.

Been waiting for 2 weeks so far so i'm really hoping I won't have to send mine off!

I hear the viewty is a terrible phone btw, riddled with problems, and support for it from lg is non existent. Good deal, going by the price on their website you can get a w880i for £65. Cheapest price for it so far, and it can be unlocked and de-branded for free. I think they have a wider selection of phones in store though.

Riddled with problems? Not that I have found. Probably right on the support thing though as LG dropped the Viewty and moved onto other things so it won't be getting any further updates.

How'd you work that one out? Tesco's standard upgrade path is buy the new handset (including this type of offer), and just put your old sim in it. They alternatively offer discounts on handsets if you go to the tesco mobile portal.

The other option is to use the phone on the Tesco network - once you've spent thirty quid on the network they will unlock your handset for free.

I don't know if this is a different deal or if the title is a bit confusing as I read it differently... Just been on the site today (as I want a new phone, U600 dark silver - which you can't get anywhere... carphonewarehouse have it in pink or black & gold yuk)... so bonus.. if I can get the phone for £55 !!!
The deal is ..... £25 off a mobile phone if you buy £10 Tesco top up (so you don't need to spend £25 in store)...
HOwever, there is an issue with the website - I can't seem to be able to purchase the £10 top up... currently waiting for customer service to come back to me....

There is that option but the deal is £25 and you have to wait out 90 days which I didn't want to do.

Me again - just bought myself a nice new phone :) The system is not working as it should.... to get the deal to work you have to first find the £10 voucher using code 1000991 add it to the basket, then locate the phone you want (over £50) add it to the basket and £25 will be taken off. As you go to the checkout it shows £5 for delivery but when you click through to the final payment screen the £5 for postage is also taken off....

So all round a good deal...heat added....

Back to the deal instore....they had the Sony Ericsson K800 in Bristol Bradley Stoke Extra for £75. Assuming you spend £25 in store that's only £50, which is a great price for this phone (it has a 3MP camera with autofocus and xenon flash.)
It was being discontinued and was reduced from £90, so worth phoning ahead first to check stock if you're interested.
