I noticed this when in tescos on the weekend and have just checked online too

Tescos own brand peanut butter (smooth and crunchy) comes in regular (340g) and large (700g) jars.

the regular jar is priced at around £1.89, the larger jar is £1.48!

i dont know whether it is a mis price, but its a good deal for all you peanut butter lovers out there!

I actually noticed this very same thing last night when doing my groceries online!! I think the problem is that the small jar has been massively overpriced, since you can see that one of the varieties is still the real price. So I suspect that this isn't really a deal, but rather a gross misprice on the smaller jar.

What I also noticed, is that the Value Peanut butter has exactly the same ingredients in the same quantities as the one you've posted, except the Value one (340g) is 65p. I always buy the value stuff and its perfectly good, makes great peanut sauce for noodles and minced pork yum!

Yes it's cheap, but it's diluted with sunflower oil so it'll run out of your sandwiches in warm weather. I vowed not to buy it again.

quite like this stuff but since they hiked the price of their peanut butter 300% in like a month i have been buying sunpat from lidl.
454g jar used to be 78p iirc now a 340g is £1.89 (jumped from 1.29 after initial jump)
sunpat 340g is 1.08 or so at lidl atm
if my store did 700g jars though id be buying this up

i must be a heathen then as i cant really tell the difference! :-D

Looks like Tesco is inflating the price of the smaller jar artificially for a short period of time, so that they can bring it down again (maybe on a BOGOF) and make it look as if they've reduced the price.

Skippy for the win! :)

Only Costco seem to do the crunchy version of Skippy around here tho' :( For some reason Sainsburys only stock the smooth! Never tried Tesco brand. I'm not sure my taste-buds want to try

After Switching to Skippy (ideally the honey-roast one) I couldn't accept any other brand until I found that the Aldi one is nearly as good. The Aldi one has no hydrogenated oils so I've switched to that brand now.

By the way, this Tesco one was one of the worse I tried.

Peanuts contain plenty of their own oil. Read the side of the jar of different brands and you'll see that most don't add 10% sunflower oil.
