Just been to my local Tesco and petrol has come down to the same price as morrisons with another 2p comming of next week the lady told me, as a direct response to morrisons price cuts.

Be careful though, never fill up at Tesco local, express or any other local supermarket branch, only fill up at supermarket sites as they are always cheaper to try to temp you to do your weekly shop there.

My local tesco express is still 111.9p for petrol when only a few miles away its 108.9p

A 4p saving is a lot in this climate

Hopefully should be around the £1 mark again within the next few weeks.

If it wasn't for this supermarket price war i'm sure the likes of Shell, BP would rip us of even more, so hats of to the supermarkets (for fuel only though, lol)

Should be between 107.9p and 108.9p for petrol by tomorrow and 119.9p and 120.9p for diesel at Tesco's supermarket sites.

Hope it helps some of my fellow hot dealers!

Happy filling! (well happier than about a month ago at least, lol)

Tesco Express stores at petrol stations normally have fuel from other suppliers, e.g. ESSO, hence the price difference.

Thanks for the tip.

Tesco price regional so not same prices everywhere, Derv is £122.9 at ours it was £124.9 last night, while its £119.9 in Lincoln a few miles away

Tesco Express is Mobil petrol hence the more expensive prices
#4
Cheam Tesco (Tesco's own petrol) is £112.9 :-)

look at www.petrolprices.com it compares the prices near you if you register and put in your postcode... great for finding the cheapest place locally for you 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 and 50 mile radius options

107 for Unleaded here in Livingston and 119 for the Diesel :whistling:
#9
107.9 for unleaded in Morrisons in barnsley!!!!
#10
No Morrisons for price competition down our way so still 125.9 for diesel.

Nearest Morrison petrol is about 10 miles away. :x
#11
Hurrrrrrrrrahh!! About time too! Thanks OP
#12
Nearest Tesco, Riverside Ave, Bournemouth, 114.9p per petrolprices.com. Tesco Express third of a mile away from it 113.9p!
Why can't we get better prices down here, after all we are close to Fawley refinery so the transport costs are lower.
I reckon it's paying for all those big red signs that are supposed to make you think 'cheap', that's doing for their profits.
banned#13
what are the chances of seeing 99.99p a litre.....I hold my breath in aticipation, go on holiday on Monday so hopefully when I get back it'll be that price....*fingers crossed*
#14
113.9 here
#15
Bloke on the radio this morning said that the price of crude oil has dropped by almost a third since June, when petrol prices were at their peak.
If prices at the pumps had dropped at the same rate diesel would be under £1 a litre and petrol 70 to 80p a litre!
Despite the recent price war we're still being ripped off by the fuel companies!

Petrol from Tesco's doesn't agree with my car. Even though it usually just has petrol from Asda (which I'm assuming comes from the same place as all the other supermarkets?). It's an 8 year old Fiat so not a top of the range something or other with a sensitive engine or anything.

Car seems really sluggish on the times I've used it, have to keep checking the handbrakes not still on. It's fine the rest of the time though.........
#17
Had to fill up earlier today, local morrisons is 110.9 and Tescos are the same :x
#18
I've nearly always found that Morrisons better Tesco by one or two pennies if you have one in your area. The petrol pricing link above is excellent - certainly recommend you have a look.
#19
[B]jay_leeds - tesco is already in the merchant list, please try not to create duplicate merchants. Thanks.

No, it's not that simple :)

You are forgetting that of the £1.20 (or whatever) a huge chunk of that (60%?) is government TAX and VAT. A small portion is retailer profit (2-3p) and the rest is the cost of fuel. As well as the "raw" cost of materials - in this case, oil and the additives - you still have the cost for transporting it to the station (so vehicle costs, staff, fuel cost for that etc...) and refining it - that means the equipment, staff, buildings etc...

While not all of the drop of price in oil is reflected, you will not see huge drops in petrol just because oil halves for instance. There are many many many other costs involved!

perhaps to a degree but, as is mentioned, the commercials behind it are a little more complex

Oil traders buy ahead. What we are getting is oil bought in June/July, maybe even earlier depending where you fill up, so it may take a while for petrol pump prices to realign with the current market.
At the moment Russia has invaded Georgia and it looks like it tried to take out the oil pipeline bypassing Russia in an attempt to monopolise energy supplies to the west. That is the sort of thing that can send the markets racing skywards. Meanwhile petrol prices keep falling.

Rent a Car in Majorca, found it for 91p a litre (at the time a week or 2 ago) in Palma.

Shame its not the same here :(

Its just the calm before the storm - were doomed - all doooooooomed I tell ye!!!! :-D :-D :-D

Here's the prediction....

£1.50 a litre by next summer - and £2 a litre if america acts like america with Iran, or, if there is a severe expansion of the Georgian conflict (which lessens supply).

£112.9 at Tesco supermarket in Crewe.....same at Morrisons. :x

i know this is a deals website but how does these sorts of posts help? go onto petrolprices.com they will inform anyone of the current prices for unleaded/diesel.

i have noticed a number of these "2p cheaper here or 5p less here" fuel prices are being voted hot, for what reason? wouldn't it be surely simpler to post a link as a sticky to petrolprices.com and allow all HUKD members to benefit?

also the above deal is area specific the current best prices for diesel in my area are £1.249 - so should i vote this deal cold as it has no relevance to me?

[just to add i haven't voted cold or hot as i do not feel it's a deal - sorry but just my pennies worth. as i have noticed lately so many 1 item deals for amazon, tesco etc... when people could quite easily post into the specific thread for these items (ie tesco deals in the tesco posts, amazon in amazon etc... if a deal is so amazing then post seperately to let us all know but posting deals on milk @ tesco 2 bottles for £2, or chocolates 50p etc... sorry waste of space. why can't the mods have a sticky for petrol prices so people could log in these region specific posts there?]

i'm off now, hope the barrage of abuse at my post isn't too much?

They are not real time prices. They are updated every other day so, for example today, Petrolprices.com are now showing the correct prices.

Couldn't agree more. I like finding 'hot' deals on this site that you wouldn't normally stumble across. Not everything that Woolworths has had at an inflated price and then slash's hundreds of pounds off to make it look like a bargain. Or, every possible 500GB hard disk at £50 or thereabouts; if everyone is selling them at £48-£52 then where is the deal?. It would be like me posting a deal that DFS has a sale on!!!:whistling:

Petrol prices is a particularly bad post though imo where prices change daily and are different in all parts of the country. Nothing here shows Tescos/Morrisons or anyone else can be guaranteed to be cheaper. Its just market forces at work.

Will rep ya!
