Tesco Power Force Batteries - 10 for £0.99

Cheap AA and AAA batteries at Tesco (in store and available through grocery delivery online). Cheaper than the Tesco Value AA batteries! Unfortunately, there's nothing to give any indication of the life expectency of these batteries. The only markings are to say that they are Zinc Chloride and made in China.

As someone who sells & sees a lot of batteries;generally the cheap unknown brand Zinc Chloride batteries from China tend to last 1/2 of the time as branded Zinc Chloride and leak acid terribly when exhausted.
This can damage equipment.
If you are attentive or change batteries quickly when dead this isn't a problem, but if left alone can ruin a remote control, wiimote or mp3 player for example.

Great for cheap toys, but I'd use Lithium Energizer or at least Branded Alkaline on the quality gear.

Zink = baaaaaaad. never buy them waste your money. even if it was 50 for a pound stay away from them, buy Alkaline.

You can always get packs of 10 batteries from IKEA for £1. Although, I have to concur, they are not the best. Might be OK if you have kids who get bored easily... or if you want that noisy toy to run down conveniently quickly. Money saving tip though... always buy the same brand, and kepp a dud pair... then swap them when the children are asleep.

No......Buy rechargeable!

The newer type which hold their charge for a long period are a great improvement.

Lot's of us on here use Vapextech rather than the expensive branded Eneloop etc:

The new technology type are £4.25 for 4xAAA or £5.40 for 4xAA, but worth every penny, OK, you need a charger (with this type as you will always have ready charged batteries, it doesn't feel so necessary to have a fast expensive charger!)

Save the planet, fine - but save loads of money too - they pay for themselves in NO time, short life disposable batteries are a money pit however cheap they are!

...but if you have rechargables, then you never have an excuse for the Fireman Sam Noisy Mother 100000 not working. Clearly this argument is flawed.

Can you recommend a charger for these? (I assume a normal NiMH charger won't work)
Thanks

That's the beauty of them... work fine with any charger, I am using mine with one I bought a LONG time ago in either Aldi or Lidl! I was going to replace it, but I find now I am not so frantic to get batteries charged, as I know I will have some with near enough full capacity anyway, so I can wait until the next lot is finished!
