Tesco's own brand (technica) walkie talkies down from £20 to £5.

These have quite a good range (up to 3km) and look to be reasonable quality.

Loads available in Glasgow.

they're not £5 online..?

There was about 20 or so in stock at St. Rollox (springburn road) but they also had some in Milngavie as well.

FYI if going to St. Rollow branch they had some downstairs as well as upstairs in the electrical dept. The upstairs price is as shown in the photo but downstairs was still showing as £9.99 but they did scan at £4.99 so make sure to insist on the lower price.

@siirbaz - yeah I know not online - when you post even if you specify it's not online it sometimes (depending on retailer) comes up with online a well. This one is AFAIK is instore only.

Got a pair of these for my son. They're very good and better than the toy one's you usually get.

Battery life is good, range is excellent.

At this price a total steal if you can find them!
#13
excellent - been looking for a cheap set of these for festivals, so me any my mates can leave phones safely locked away.
#14
Might have to have a look for these to use when im away skiing with mates.
#15
We bought these to use at Disney last year as we had a very large group of people.

If you can communicate in crackle these are just the ticket. However, if you want to speak using the English language a pair of coke cans and a piece of string would probably be a better option. They were truely dire.

Got these for my son for X-Mas, were £9.99 at the time.

Just about his favourite pressie, played with loads on X-Mas day. Picked up some kids from a few miles away and they had some great crack! (Reminded me of the CB radio days)

Great buy at this price, will look for some for his cousins for birthday pressies.

Have to agree, we bought these to take to Florida with us, decided to test them at home before we went and they were terrible. They say 3km but I think that is if it is across remote farmland with no buildings in the way!!! We took them back for a refund and seemed like a good few of them had been returned as the tape on several of the boxes had been opened.

Agree with previous posters about using walkie-talkies at Disney. Not only are they useless when you go indoors, but when outside it seemed everyone else had the same walkie talkies on the same frequencies - too much cross-talk and everyone calling each other. Useless. We resorted to mobiles & text messages.

Great if you're in a quiet part of the UK in the open, and good for the kids...but they're not seriously useful.

Was gonna get 2 sets so everyone can have one when we're camping, but sounds pretty pointless then. I'll stick with the kids having cheap pay-as-you-go mobiles (no credit on the 6 year olds) and we call them if they disappear...

These looked more fun tho:x

6 year old given a mobile to look after themselves in case they disappear!!!!

Please tell me you were being ironic!!!!!

3km (in open field) is preety crap. You only can use them around the house really.
#22
Awesome. We use these for car journeys when travelling in convoy, give one to the passenger in each car and then there is never any confusion about where you are going or why you just took that left turn when you should've gone right.
#23
Thanks for the comments everyone....they're not pro spec by any means but for a fiver good for kids and handy for festivals and between cars as suggested.
#24
Loads in Batley, SEL at a tenner but scanning at a lady.

Just got one of these. Guy in tescos said these pick up police transmisions... interesting... Anywho we are going to use these in convoys. Not tested yet, need to find SIX aaa batteries for them. SIX!
#26
I might have a wonder into Tesco tomorrow, a pair of these would be handy for me and a mate for fishing. I know they won't be all that, even at £5 they are worth avoiding but they should work well where we go fishing.

The guy in Tesco is talking rubbish. You cannot pick up Police transmissions with these or any other make. The signals are encrypted for a start.

No I'm not a LOL***** by any means but that deserves a big huge LOL right there. Can you imagine the queue of crims at Tesco's front door if that was the case? You have to laugh at the tesco staff who wear the Tech Support uniforms and are clearly clueless on most things. I heard one muppet trying to tell a guy that you got HD signal on scart the other day.

Bah, I wnt to Cardington Road Tesco earlier and they don't even stock them! It's a big store too.

Sweet...I thought all the stock of these might have gone but glad to hear of another happy camper.

Just to let you know there was one set left in Exeter Exe Vale today at £4.99

I was just about to make a deal for these, if you are serious about getting some for disney land or other areas where there will be allot of inteference then get the more expensive ones that hve 8 channels plus 38 sub channels where as these cheap one jut have 8 channels. Still fine for most people. I used to use my oregon scientific one to call the school dinner ladies or the tesco security guards near me. Was quite a laugh and its funny listening in on other people conversations.

These are great value for most people going camping or in car or for kids. Aslong as there is no interfernce then they are fine and for a 5er you cant complain.
