WRONG INFO - NOW EXPIRED - APOLOGIES! See post #78 for details.

It's the same INSTORE deal which ended 31 January but now reintroduced with a £20 giftcard kickback. Instore 'limited time' offer - beats the Tesco online offers. Piggybacks O2.

Written up by hand on a whiteboard in the phone shop - ask if you don't see it.

Yes, I know the data has a 500mb 'fair usage' policy.

Yes, I've just done it. Just ring them with your PAC code, it took 24 hours for mine to swap across.

Yep, with great ease. I managed to bag the 500 minutes deal last year and can't look past Tesco Mobile! Very good indeed! This is still hot!

Sorry, didn't say but I think it's just started so you should be OK. Says 'ends soon' - I'm guessing end of month? Was on a hand written whiteboard in the phone shop - ask if you don't see it.

It's a rolling monthly contract - you pay £10/month and get up to those 'limits'.

Just come off Tesco rolling to Giffgaff PAYG. I have a smartphone and the 500meg on Tesco was always a concern.

On Giffgaff (which works over O2, just like Tesco)

for £10 PAYG you get 250 mins UNLIMITED texts and UNLIMITED data. Proper unlimited, no fair use rubbish. All they ask is you dont tether or use the phone for "business".

Surely there is no better deal than that at the mo?

Ive paid £15 this month to get extra minutes (300) till I see if I need them or not. No contract, so if something better chances along I can just swap.

COLD. They've been doing a deal 600 mins for £10 if you ring up and (like others) they lie about the internet being unlimited but (unlike others) apparently start charging as soon as you go over you're "unlimited" allowance. Plus the charges are something ridiculous like £2 per Mb.
#12
what network is this on?

edit: just seen, O2

Not if you have a smartphone in my opinion. ;)

That voucher is all well and good, but its a one off..... I want mobile data for the long haul. Tesco deal is pants at 500mb fair usage.

Thats WRONG my friend, if you buy a goodybag it is continuing..... only the free perk to non goody bag buyers is ending.

Try £4 per meg.

EDIT: Though you might only get 150 mins on the £10 plan now. (Extra mins might have been a limited time deal). Still get unlimited data and texts though.

To get 300 you deffo need the £15 goody bag.... still a stonking deal for UNLIMITED data and text.

If your big on calling then this might not be for you... but I mainly use my phone for texting and data usage (the net/ FB streaming TV, google maps, latitude etc. etc.)

They dont slow you, only constant nag screens which is worse than slowing you down, however it is better than paying over use charges, I went over my usage a couple of months in a row and was driven mad by nag screens but meant that emails etc still could be updated.

500mb of use on a phone? Only went twice over my limits with tmobile and that was when I moved and turned the phone into a hot spot till the broadband was installed.

Hot deal but not worth it for me as I just negotiated my way into 300mins, 300texts and unlimited internet on a rolling 30 day contract with tmobile :) so pretty pleased at this stage considering the bolt ons for internet usually are £5/mo.

Quite surprised at that, ive found it easy to get over 500mb a month on data.... then I do stream shows etc.

How much do you pay for the T mobile deal you negotiated.

Bearing in mind I truly wanted unlimited data and texts, I still think the giffgaff PAYG deal is damned good. £15 for 300 minutes and unlimited on data and texting.

When do you get the gift card, at sign up? If so, I assume you can just get it, cancel it straight away and be up £10 (assuming you would spend it in Tesco anyway)?

No it isn't. Some Don;t charge, only throttle. Some only charge after sending a letter, or repeeated violations. Tesco charge £4 per Mb. If you go over your allowance by 50% that's a £1000 bill.
#32
will this work on the san francisco and does anyone know all the settings etc as i can't get my o2 sim to work on it will only make calls and texts :(
#33
So when they pull the deal, after the current 1 month contract runs dry you will be forced to move to another deal?
#34
I've just left Tesco and gone over to giffgaff, 500meg of data was only lasting me two and a half weeks even with only moderate use on my HTC Wildfire...
#35
Do you have to be with then a certain number of months to get the £20 giftcard?

Try £4 per meg.

Had a text a few weeks ago from Tesco Mobile stating they are reducing the per Meg to 60p (I think). Someone else might be able to confirm this as I have deleted my text.

Found it.. google is wondefull

From Here

Our data charges will soon be going down from £4 a megabyte to 60p a megabyte. These charges apply for any data used outside of any inclusive data allowance on your tariff.

Please note, the number of megabytes used per page can vary.

We'll also be launching two, new, great value data bundles. You'll be able to get 500 megabytes of data for £5 a month or 1 gigabyte of data for £7.50 a month.

We'll let you know as soon as they’re launched.

Dont agree.

My iphone PAYG O" sim run out recently - I use it a fair bit during the day for checking hotmail etc etc - I phoned O2 and over the last year my peak usage was 270Mb in a month.

For the vast majority of people who are sensible (install apps on Wifi not while on 3G etc) 500mb would be more than sufficient - there is a reason the mobile companies set that as a limit - its because its suitable for most people.

Missus has a 3GB allowance with TMobile (the £7.50 SIM that was on here a while ago) and again her usage is less than 300Mb a month - and she does a fair bit of twitter ...

I am on 'The One Plan' on 3 - its 2000 crossnetwork minutes, unlimited sms (well 5000 texts), 10000 3-to-3 minutes and truly unlimited inet which allows tethering. It is £25/m for 12 month contract, but after quidco its only £16/m.
