'Half price' deal in Sainsbury's today was still £2. Smaller pack too I think. Hot!

£2 for 12 rashers of Danish bacon which is much nicer.

Great price but Tesco doesn't sell any bacon worth buying, unfortunately. Too thin and pumped full of water and salt.

Very true - we've tried every type of Tesco bacon there is, and it's all rubbish. Just look at the nasty white gunk that comes off when it's cooked - the salt, the chemicals and the water.

Waitrose bacon's dearer, but at least it tastes good.(_;)

That Danish stuff is thinner than toilet paper.

Tesco stuff is fine, go for un-smoked. At least it fills a sandwhich!

Tesco bacon does not taste good at all, unfortunately!! (in my opinion...)

Didn't see any other comments, that suggested anyone had got this deal - just slagging off the bacon.

Just back from Tesco. Bacon not half price. Just been charged £3.44 for it (doesn't taste that bad though).

Maybe, maybe not. Each supermarket will have their own spec the supplier has to meet. Morrisons' may be better than Tesco's for all I know but they are probably not the same.

I could argue that every rasher off every pig is different - but that WOULD be going too far!

Anyway, this is a hot deal regardless.

Absolute rubbish. The specification is entirely different from supermarket to supermarket. Tesco bacon is stuffed full of water, salt and additives to make it hold the water, and most of the others aren't much better (that's what all that white gunk is when you cook it).

Waitrose bacon (possibly M&S too, but I haven't tried that) is about as far different from Tesco bacon as you can get. It has an excellent taste and texture, without all the additives and water, and no white gunk. It's a bit dearer, but it's infinitely superior. Try it and you won't touch Tesco bacon again with a bargepole. You can say much the same thing about all Tesco meat, too. 8)

That white stuff makes me feel quite sick so I won't eat it when this happens. Someone just told me recently that you need to buy 'dry cured' bacon to avoid the stuff......anyone know if this is true?

Usually, yes - and certainly in the case of Waitrose bacon. Tesco dry cured is still pretty poor quality, though.

Not remotely am I splitting hairs. Bacon isn't just produced in two 'factories'!

No, no, you don't understand: mark333 worked in a factory so he knows we're all wrong!

On that basis a Bentley and a Skoda could be compared - 'similar product method', even same owner.

Of course we understand what you're trying to say but they do differ: 'similar' and 'same' are not the same thing! You've posted your own deal (which I gave heat to) now stop trying to pull this one apart with flawed arguments.
