Still holding out for my XMAS Turkey DEAL to pop up somewhere, gonna leave it for as long as possible. AS I AM confident someone will slash prices on Turkeys to get rid of them,
lets hope TESCO do this tomorrow on them
#10
they will be out of stock in no time

Hi guys, I went in to my tesco's yesterday (nottingham 10/12/) and they had already started the 50% off on their party food. It's all freezable and there is some really nice stuff. I've stocked up for new year ;)

small hint in the title can you spot it?

50% off ALL christmas food, toys, drink and gifts starting friday

well its not 50% off all Christmas lines just selected!
#13
Hopefully this will bring some decent spirit deals out. But i doubt it.
#14
Why are folk voting this hot when they haven't a clue what'll actually be in the sale ?
This is about as ridiculous as the Woolworths thread - but at least that thread was expired !!
#15
So what toys come under the category "Christmas toys" and for Christmas Drink do they mean mulled wine and sherry? all other booze/beer/spirits can be drunk 12 months a year. Would be nice if Jack Daniels and Barcardi is 50% off. Would be better than duty free prices.
#16
garbage456
so are you saying tesco are going into bankruptcy?

no but u say 50% off ALL christmas food, toys, drink and gifts and i will wait and see if ALL or not, as if it is selected this is a **** deal ,,as you say ALL like i said earlier ,, this may be another woolworths where someone stated everything 50% off , i can see this turning cold when tesco educe all there **** they cant sell

just found this :

Tesco said it will slash prices by 50% in the latest round of discounting to hit the retail sector. The supermarket chain said the sale, which starts on Friday, would focus on Christmas essentials and gifts.

Britain's biggest grocer said it was cutting prices early on around 1,000 items in response to customers' reluctance to purchase items which would later be discounted.

Commercial director Richard Brasher said: "Some say that a bit of the pleasure they usually get from buying gifts has gone in the current climate.

"They've told us they still want to enjoy a special Christmas - with big presents for their children and a proper Christmas meal - but they want us to help make their money go further."

Items to be discounted will include champagne flutes, reduced from £12 to £6, as well as seasonal foods such as Christmas pudding.

Earlier this month Tesco revealed its weakest UK sales performance since the last recession after a supermarket price war halved growth in the preceding quarter.

The supermarket posted a 2% increase in UK like-for-like sales, excluding petrol, in the 13 weeks to November 22, down from 4% the previous quarter. But Tesco said the sales growth decline came as it cut prices to lure in cash-strapped shoppers, resulting in higher sales volumes and customer numbers.

Around 300,000 more customers were tempted into its stores each week by falling prices, according to the group.
Tesco said it was acting on the basis of its own research, which suggested that customers were delaying spending because of concerns about missing out on discounts.

so all in all **** voted cold sorry , not a good deal as op said

From the telegraph story

Many of discounts at Tesco are on Christmas party food, with champagne being cut from £30 to £15, Christmas pudding being cut from £9.98 to £4.99. Roast potatoes, wine, brie, biscuits, Christmas crackers are being reduced by 50 per cent, along with perfumes, children's bicycles and Hannah Montana dolls.

till this is proved - cold from me to counter some of the mindless hot votes
#20
when the Op said all i was getting excited,,, but now ,, its what all superstores are doing , reducing all the hristmas stock they have in ,as its just not selling as fast as they expected
#21
nikkit72 I'm with you with this one. I won't be holding my breath. As for this woolworths scam, they have put up on the shop windows up to 50% off. Up to being the key word. I think you'll find in consumer/corporate law that a retailer can advertise a sale of say, for example 500 items and only reduce them at 10% but reduce 1 item at 50% they are ok because 1 item that no one wants is 50% off from it's original price. And it's human nature to see the 3ft 50% off lettering on a sale poster and not the "up to" written in small 1/2 inch letters.

the whole point of voting hot and add rep is so you acknowledge that someone has gone out of there way to tell you tesco are doing a massive sale tomorrow on 1000's of lines, otherwise without reading on here you wouldnt of known.

BUT IT IS NOT A MASSIVE SALE

and also people would of read this in there papers this morning

garbage456
yes but the tesco sale doesnt say upto 50% it says 50%

but you say ALL but its selected goods so this is why it gets cold votes , as you are mis leading by saying all
#24

someone has gone out there way to help us save a bit of money for xmas maybe just a little bit but still a saving.
why sit on here complaining about what will be down and what wont? its the xmas stock that matters at XMAS time is it not? Thats what you will be saving on.

I for 1 will be there tomorrow i know i will find something even if i only get 1 thing its still saving me half the money i would have paid. 50% is a big saving for a single mum with 3 kids and its very much appreciated too
#33
I think this will be pretty hot actually but I will keep my vote until tomorrow.

I think it will potentually be very hot indeed.

Especially if the OP stops annoyingly trying to drum up heat for it in such an obvious and sad way.

#35
It is only a saving you were going to buy the goods anyway!

I am not saying they are not good savings / products to buy but don't everyone fall for the clever marketing these supermarkets do.

Are these items on the shopping list already or are you just buying them because they are a in a sale, in which case they are cost you more money than you would usually spend!
#36
Heat and rep added - thanks to OP!
