What's the playback like on these things? I find that many of these cheapie players suffer from a slight visual 'chug', which is especially noticeable on panning shots.

they are still £15.58 in Tesco at Wigan.

I got one to replace my sons sumvision that wont play any discs (tried getting a new laser but still no joy)
#5
Will scan at £9.58, just you see ;)

Same at my tesco (on shelf - £15.58, but in reality £9.58).

nope, asked the guy to scan it and it came up as £15.58, did some more shoping and it came up as £15.58 when I went throught the checkout too.

it's normally the cheap nasty ones that are the best for playing any type of dvd... however ...does this one also play .avi files straight from the disc without burning them onto it??
#8
You can't play .avi files from a blank disc! :)

However, if what you meant was, can it play divx/xvid SD encoded video in the .avi container without having to convert to DVD then the answer is yes!

Does it have a usb?......

Scanned at 15.58 at Tesco in Bury.

Mate just bought one.

Scanned at £15.58 in Brighouse.
Wasn't a wasted journey, they had 22" wiper blades for 75p..Great for the Roller

Its rubbish tbh, wont ffwd or rwd on divx and struggles with some content giving diagonal lines on playback. These are few and far between but still it just shows you get what you pay for, i have the lidl one as well and that wipes the floor in comparison, and thats a bit cheap and nasty too :w00t:

Xbox or ps3 do a better job.

Is it possible to make this Region Free. If so, how?

Tried this yesterday, dint work, item scanned through at full price. Item return today for refund with explanation:

"It's sh!te, give me my money back you robbing ********!"

I'm now barred from my local Tesco, I think that's a first for Tesco Barnsley.

can't think why they would bar someone for saying something perfectly reasonable and inoffensive? :p

It's true. It's the worst DVD Player I ever bought. I can not cope with standard two layer discs. Awful.
#18
Bought this player yesterday in NI and it was priced at £15.58.

But not too bothered as it plays AVI files off a CD-R, which is what I was after.
#19
is there anyway to make xvid files FF and RWD?? like changing the avi or settings?
#20
Lasted 3months and broke down. Upon opening the case the power unit was all melted inside.

I guess you get what you pay for!

got this the other day but fgor £17 odd. Anyone have trouble fast forwarding divx files?
