anyone know who makes their washing machines?

Having a look online it looks like it's made by Beko, the buttons are the same and the model numbers they use are very similar.

Vestel is Beko , so you were correct in your first assumption that they are rebranded Beko machines.
I would rather have Beko than the Chinese brands (Haier etc)

Not according to Wiki, they say they are rivals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beko

I always thought Beko and Vestel were separate but I have seen 100% identical under counter fridges, one Beko and one Vestel branded.

Never had any issues with our Beko fridge except the increased risk of fire lol

I bought one of these a few weeks ago. Its playing up already. Its spins when it feels like it and the main washes take forever.
    Very poor.

1000 rpm for 6 Kg is simply too low. But good price though

    unfortunately delivery only...
the website mentions taking the old one away for a fee (£7.95 I think).. but the option is not there to select
When I phoned the helpdesk they said they no longer provide this service!

Most washing machine warranties are parts only. The cost is in the labour!

I would agree, our 10 year old and still going strong Zanussi one that is 5KG load is 1100 spin and when replacing it want both a bigger capacity drum and a higher spin speed...1000 rpm for a 6KG capacity drum is woeful.

Have done some research and apparently spin speed isn't the be all and end all.

Firstly, a bigger diameter drum will exert a larger centrifugal force on the water, for and given spin speed. Thus a larger drum should dry better than a smaller one.

The length of the spin cycle has an effect; longer spin cycles will do a better job, as will multiple cycles.

Thirdly, the design of the drum holes has an effect. Larger holes will generally mean that clothes dry better, however, large holes will generally cause more damage to fabrics.
