Hang on a minute... This is a good deal if you need halogen bulbs. If you have a dimmer then not many LED bulbs work. I have used both LED and halogen, I find that LED lamps break just as quickly as halogen due to the transformers in them. The Phillips LED bulbs are the best I have found but are usually quite pricey. I can not find halogen or LED bulbs cheaper than 50p so have some heat.
Stopped using these 3 years ago.
Got 52 spot lights in the house , I was costing a fortune to run . Spent £150 on 52 new LED gu10 (3w) version . Much brighter and even when every room is on it's only using 156w total . Compared to 2600w with these type . My bills are £20 a month cheaper now
No one should be buying these, where have you been for the past 2 years oO
Theyre just trying to get rid of them.
Halogen lamps are a waste of electricity and money.

Frequent use of alcohol containing mouthwash causes cancer according to both Australian and European studies.

that's why most of the companies moved away from alcohol ones. I am no scientist but just because you rinse and spit makes alcohol more dangerous, wonder if they put that on actual alcohol products what would happen.

If this is sourced from India or Pakistan then more likely to have pesticide residues and go unchecked for high amounts of arsenic. Personally I prefer the value 1kg bags of rice normally about 40p and sourced from the US. All rice has arsenic though and higher in brown varieties.
"White basmati rice from California, India, and Pakistan, and sushi rice from the U.S. on average has half of the inorganic-arsenic amount of most other types of rice."
"All types of rice (other than sushi rice) with a label indicating that it’s from Arkansas, Louisiana, or Texas or just from the U.S. had the highest levels of inorganic arsenic in our tests"
"Brown rice has 80 percent more inorganic arsenic on average than white rice but has extra nutrients.... Brown basmati from California, India, or Pakistan is the best choice; it has about a third less inorganic arsenic than other brown rices"

Is there any rice field in the UK or in the EU? The rice grown in other Asian tropical countries will not be any better then the one grown in India or Pakistan.

Not tried Aldi as we only just got a local new store. Lidl cheap one is not as good as Baileys. It is rather sweet. They have had a more expensive range at about £6 a bottle which were very good.

tesco logoA Brief History of Tesco

Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen, the son of Polish Jewish immigrants. At first, the company sold war-surplus groceries from a market stall in Hackney, East London. Ten years later, the first Tesco store was opened in Edgware, Middlesex.

Tesco grew steadily and was floated on the London Stock Exchange in 1947. Through the 1980s and 90s growth became much more rapid. The 21st century has seen Tesco continuing to diversify. Today, the company is the grocery retail market leader in not just the UK, but also Ireland, Hungary, Thailand, and Malaysia with business interests in many more countries.

Tesco Store Finder and Online Shop

Tesco has a range of operations in the UK which it divides into five strands, differentiated by the range of products sold and the size of the store. The main five are: Tesco Superstores, Tesco Metro, Tesco Express, Tesco Extra and One Stop. There are also many subsidiaries such as Dobbie's Garden Centres, Tesco Bank, petrol stations and Tesco Mobile.

Whether you prefer to browse online before buying or go to a store and take a look, you can use Tesco's store finder facility
on its website to find your nearest branch.

Tesco's online shop can be found at www.tesco.com and it offers a variety of goods and services.

Product Range and Top Brands from Tesco

Tesco.com acts as a portal to all of Tesco's UK services and the homepage is divided into several categories, each with further subcategories.

  • Groceries – Everything you would shop for in the supermarket, available online including food, drinks, and household goods.
  • Tesco Direct – This is subdivided into different categories of non-everyday items sold by Tesco including Technology & Gaming (PS4, Xbox One), Home, Garden, Health & Beauty and Baby & Toddler.
  • F&F Clothing – Affordable clothes and fashion for all the family.
  • Tesco Clubcard – Accrue rewards on all the items you buy through Tesco.
  • Tesco Bank – This covers all Tesco's financial services including current accounts, credit cards, loans, insurance and more.
  • Wine by the Case – For great deals on great wines.
  • Tesco Mobile - A one-stop shop for pay-as-you-go and contracted mobile phone services as well as phone accessories.

Deals from Tesco

There are many special offers and deals available through Tesco Online. There are so many products with savings that Tesco divides them into further categories:

  • Top offers
  • Half Price
  • Only £1
  • Save 1/3
  • Buy one get one free
  • Multibuys
  • Seasonal

You'll find a frequently updated array of different groceries and products on offer at Tesco. The company also offers customers a Brand Guarantee. If you can find your branded grocery shop of 10 or more products cheaper elsewhere, Tesco will take the money off your bill.

Tesco has participated for the last few years in the shopping phenomenon that is Black Friday and Cyber Monday. During this time, there are countless offers on a wide range of Tesco products and services, right across their ranges.

Tesco Clubcard is another great way to access exclusive deals and discounts. It requires signing up, and afterwards you just scan your Clubcard after you shop, or type the number in during the online process and you'll be given points. Once you've collected 150 points, you'll begin receiving vouchers along with your Clubcard statement. You can then use these vouchers to claim money off online or in-store.

Ordering Products from Tesco.com

To shop at tesco.com you need to register your details. It's a simple process which requires just an e-mail address, password, your postcode and Clubcard number if you have one.

Once you've registered, the online shopping experience is simple. You just choose a delivery slot time, buy your groceries and then checkout.

Accepted Payment Methods at Tesco Online

There are various payment options available to Tesco online customers. The following cards are accepted forms of payment: MasterCard, Visa Credit, Visa Debit, American Express Maestro and Clubcard Plus (Visa Electron is not accepted). Clubcard vouchers, eCoupons, and Tesco Gift Cards are also accepted online.

For enhanced security, Tesco uses the VbV (Verified by Visa) security programme, MasterCard's SecureCode system and SafeKey from American Express.

Delivery with Tesco

Tesco offers online customers home delivery beginning at £1 for selected time slots when you spend £40 or more. For orders under £40, minimum basket charges apply.

Tesco also offers a Delivery Saver service. This is a programme designed to save online customers money on home deliveries. There are various plans that customers can sign up to, depending on their personal needs and shopping habits.

Refunds and Returns

If Tesco cannot deliver a product that you've paid for, you'll be refunded in full the cost of that product. Should you need to return a faulty or expired product, you can contact the customer services team on 0800 3234050 (or 0330 1234050 from a mobile), and a team member will assist you. If you report it within 30 days of receipt of goods, you are entitled to a refund. After that time, you may be offered a replacement or partial refund.

If you've changed your mind, the 30 day period still applies, though there are various exceptions to this depending on the type of product.

How to Return a Product

Products can be taken directly back to a store, sent by post or sent by courier, depending on what the product is.

  • In-store – Bring the product and proof of purchase to a Tesco store, along with any packaging, tags, labels etc. that you have. You can then choose either a refund or exchange the product for something else.
  • Courier – For large items, or items that came by courier, collection can be arranged with the customer service team on 0800 3234050. Tesco will then arrange for a refund to be made in the same way that the product was paid for.
  • Post – Items such as books and entertainment good that came by post must be returned by post. You'll find a free returns label inside your order.

Tesco Newsletter, Social Media, and Apps

To benefit from even more savings, you can sign up for Tesco's weekly newsletter. Sent straight to your inbox, the newsletter gives customers access to a range of great deals.

There are also even more deals, discounts, and offers on Tesco's various social media channels.

Tesco has different apps for iOS and Android devices:
