Tevion 45949 DSP FM/MW/SW/LW World Band Radio Receiver - Manufacturer refurbished - £5.99 delivered @ dmtrading2011 (eBay)
This is an excellent deal for anyone after an ultra-sensitive world band radio receiver.
WHY THIS DEAL IS GOOD - The "DSP" chip inside this radio is used in expensive units like many of the new Tecsun receivers and the infamous Sony XDR-F1HD making it ultra-sensitive to weaker signals, especially on FM.
It also has a 3.5mm connector for external antennas. A great unit for DX'ing (receiving long-distance signals, out of area radio, pirates, etc.)
Although the eBay auction doesn't list the model of the unit, I know someone who has received one and has confirmed it's the Tevion stated in the title. Excellent reviews.
Also includes 'soft' aerial, carry case and earphones.

This is probably the first shortwave radio deal posted on HUKD.

Probably won't be LONG before another one gets posted !!! :p
^I use one with my Tecsun PL-310 which is the most sensitive radio I own. They can be had for around £35 delivered on ebay (from China, don't be tempted by the similar looking ones being sold in the UK as the internals are not the same)
It should take 2 or 3 AAs I believe, if it's anything like my Tecsun, and *should* be operable via a mains plug too, although I'd recommend using things like this on batteries as AC adapters generally cause a bit of interference!

Thanks. Ordered!
My cousin got me interested in DXing years ago. Even started trying to capture morse and RTTY news feeds on a BBC micro. Where has all the free time gone for useless pursuits?

It's a hobby I've never really been able to drop... If I'm out in the car and have a spare 10 minutes I'll put it towards pulling over on high ground and having a scan. Likewise if I'm on a weekend away somewhere new! The Tecsun always ends up in the bag. Despite evolutions in technology nothing really touches the 'buzz' of good old analogue. I'm a big fan of Internet radio, especially via Tunein on the phone, but it just isn't the same!
The Internet proves that this hobby isn't as unique as I once thought it was! ;-)

It does indeed suck but at this price support is just a bonus. If it arrives DoA and you hit a brick wall with Tevion, just open up a Paypal dispute and be done with it, IMO!
