is there a battery? if not its no good?
#2
sorry just learnt to read! and spell!!!
#3
Was just going to post this, looks good for the price with mpeg4 support.

great price considering the features, but is the battery any good? the cheap Tesco & Argos ones, get poor reviews re: battery life, ie they just about last a film, and despite having the adapters have to be charged to be used, can't run from the adaptor, so wonder if this would be the same? if it isn't then this is a cracking deal I think, especially with Mpeg4 and USB/SD options.

Heat added!

Does this plays DIVX?

Got one of these last year. The battery so far has lasted at least a couple of hours, we haven't ran it down so can't say how long it does last for.

I think it s a brilliant thing and certainly keeps my son happy on a long journey.

Unless it is different from the ones Aldi have sold the last couple of times then it may not.

just a small word of warning, this product does not support re-written dvd's.
#9
Tempting for the peace on long journeys.

Excuse the Finbarism, but is 7" big enough and likely to have sufficient viewing angle for three kids in a row to view in the back of a people carrier?

Do you mean its not compatible with DVD+/- RW rather than finalised DVD+/-R's. Otherwise how would it read MPEG4 as this format is usually downloaded from the web. Unless it can only read mpeg4 files from finalised CD's ??

I purchased a Sony one recently after looking at most of the cheaper ones the best battery life I could find was 2.5 hours - most are usually 2 hours - and that usually needs brightness turned down , low volume / headset etc to get the longer use out of them, the sony one I found in Tesco/Asda for £99 or so has a 5 hour battery life, plays divx etc and is great. The cheaper ones are ok if used just in a car but also bear in mind the thought that portable dvd players on a car headrest are nowhere near as secure as an inbuilt one and can be a bit dangerous if you crash - well for the little person watching the screen anyway - never use ours in the car because of this reason - back in my day you just looked out of a window!!!

There seems to be little support for 'Tevion' products. As far as I can see they don't even have their own web-site.I found out the hard way when I bought their wireless keyboard/mouse.

You can buy the pink one from PVRempire.co.uk for £39.99 and it comes with a bag and accessories. My mum bought one from them and they are fine.
Also delivery is free. Comes in a couple of days.

Is there any PORTABLE DVD player which plays via a USB drive??
#15
Sony DVPFX720 - this has USB for music and jpegs but don't think you can stream divx from it - must admit I have not tried it on mine yet and can't seem to find any mention of it actually doing it online but you never know.... tis a cracking little machine though.

Bought one last Novemeber, quality is great and cant grumble for the price. I remember my local Aldi selling out on the same day - not sure about other Aldi stores though

You might be okay with 2 kids sitting together but not 3, think they would start complaining. Aldi sometimes have the sets where you get 2 players that you can join together via cables, maybe a better idea.

would be a good to have one of these to stick in the back of our Ford Galaxy for the kids to watch when on long journeys but it really needs to have DIVX/XVID support. If anyone has bought one of these new ones and can confirm if it allows DIVX playback then I'm sure a few of us would apprecaite hearing from you :)

Picked 2 pink ones up from Nottingham this morning, which will make my little girlies very happy.
Thanks to the OP

Grabbed one of these yesterday and can confirm that they play DIVX files just fine from either DVD or USB (Suspect memory card would also work fine)- and the quality was as good as my standard non-upscalling dvd player when hooked up to the telly - happy days, £50 well spent!
Would recommend getting one, if you can find any stock
