I got the newsletter today too. I've seen these in ALDI/Lidl before and considered them.. I am interested to hear if anyone has had one, and if it's decent (enough) or not worth it..

Why is this voted so cold??

Cant complain for £40, especially with a 3yr warranty and usually a 12month no quibble return to Aldi.

I'm a bit confused at it being voted cold as well, for £40 I don't think there's too much risk, even if it wasn't up to spec you could return the item or have it replaced.

I'm looking to get one myself so if people voting cold could back this up with some reasoning then it would be appreciated.

I bought one of the last offering from Aldi - about 6m ago - and I would DEFINITELY have kept it IF it hadn't had a design weakness that made that offering unsuited to me car - as it had SO many features and a decent sound for the price.

ie it REQUIRED an ignition switched power supply for its main feed (as well from memory as an ancillary permanent feed to retain stuff) whereas my car leaves power to the radio all the time and relies on you remembering to turn off the radio to save your battery (and assumes that when OFF the radio won't gobble too much juice).

Their last offering consumed enough power even when switched OFF on its fascia to flatten my battery over 12hrs enough to not start the car (something my car never suffers from normally) which was to say the least an inconvenience! Their helpline promptly confirmed it REQUIRED a switched main feed, so I took mine back to Aldi for a refund.

So if YOUR car doesn't have switched radio 12V feed, would definitely be worth checking BEFORE buying/installing if this offering suffers from the same design weakness/flaw.

    What car have you got?

All the switched feed is is a wire coming off the Aux off the ignition...

I just bought one and I love it, its great just load up your sd card with mp3s and its away its great for the price! I am a little worried about the previous comment as I have a skoda felicia and you have to manually switch off the head unit as the stereo works with the ignition off so am I going to wake up tomorrow and not be able to start the car?
