Yep, one of these will do the job for your PS3 to HDTV.

Voted hot!!

apparantly not long ago someone posted a article saying basically a hdmi cable is a hdmi cable meaning £60 ones and these ones are no different
i know u can get better quality scarts and sound leads but am i right in hdmi cables?
#8
Well... I've 2 PS3's, as I got one free with a new TV I bought - one has a £70 Monster cable, and the other a £9.99 own brand cable.

I kid you not, there is no difference (that I can see, anyway) - use the extra money on something else instead
#9
lol monster cables! brings back memories
when i was a temp in comet we were told to make sure we plug these porducts to everyone buying a tv or dvd player etc etc
6 way plug was £120..............filters static or summat like that
#10
Does anyone know where to get a cheap 1m one? I dont need anywhere near 1m and wondered if it was cheaper anywhere for just the 1m

Thanks

Hehe! Yea, I've had that demo done to me at Comet!

I worked in a Video Games store that sold Monster cables, and had to go to a Monster training event. They didn't actually show you ANY physical evidence of any improvement, just told us what the cables were made of, that they had this gold in them, that they had this insulation, etc, etc. and we were then supposed to convince people to spend £60+ on them instead of a £17.99 one (or one that came in the box!) - no thanks! I just told people I couldn't see any difference, which is true...

Would rather use that money towards a speaker system; games; movies, etc.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people that still think that it MUST be better as it costs more...
#12
From what I know, having a gold plated HDMI cable won't make a blind bit of difference unless you're talking a very long cable, as the signal is digital.
#13
yeh i fall into that trap sumtimes whereby if its expensiver it SHOULD and must be better in my eyes but if u compare side by side stuff its simple as being oh it has a extra button or oh it has 2 l.e.d lights instead of 1
but for those who have the money to throw around the companies will always exploit that point

I'm shocked that this is getting so many hot votes.

I've posted this once, and I'll post it again -

HDMI is HDMI is HDMI. As has been said it's a digital signal so it's purely 1s and 0s - all cables have the same ability, the only difference may come if you have a nearby interference source etc but nowadays that's VERY unlikey to affect your HDMi.

All gold plating does is reduce corrosion - It has NO benefit for signal transfer.

I was just in Comet today looking at their £70 HDMI cables, wondering how the hell they fricking sleep at night.

A couple of years ago they sold my mum a £30 Scart cable to go with her effing VCR!!!

Thanks JUKKI. Ordered from Ebuyer

to be fair though, with regards to SCART cables, etc, a more expensive cable would have better shielding and would hopefully reduce signal noise, which analogue signals, such as SCART, would be more susceptible to.

shouldnt make the slightest difference with HDMI though, as has been duly noted by others in the thread.

Voted hot! Picked one of these up for my ps3 and was blown away with the quality.

Who cares that ebuyer have it for £1.39 cheaper - most Aldi stores seem to be next to an Asda or Tescos, so just grab one
#23
vote cold ordered one from ebuyer last wednesday £3.60 ish delivered to my door friday morning thats hot.
#24
Voted HOT for finding it, but personally gone for the Ebuyer one as I'm not bothered about waiting.

You see those little orange circles under my name?
That means I've been more useful to people than you (hence the reason more people on here are buying the cable from the ebuyer link I posted :whistling: ).

Anyway, being a yid, I thought you'd appreciate the saving :w00t: .

Also, you're right, my post for the ebuyer cable didn't get voted hot, because.....errr, I didn't create one.

Someone else did though -

I connect my cable box to my TV via SCART. I just replaced the £4.99 basic SCART lead with gold plated plugs that I've been using for a while with a £25 IXOS one (reduced from £50) and the improvement in picture quality was instantly noticeable. Obviously, the same can't be said of HDMI cables though, as they either work or they don't.
#28
I bought 2 hdmi cables from ebuyer on 2 consecutive days last week. They arrived the next day. (The second order I placed was dispatched within about 2 hours of placing the order :-D)

My OH used one of them to connect his ps3 to the HDTV and it worked beutifully.

Can't fault them for £3.69 and delivered so quickly!
#29
£3.69 hdmi cable ,£2.47 dvi-hdmi adapter from currys =£6.16= happiness. When I upgrade the telly later I still can use the hdmi lead.Works out better than a hdmi-dvi cable.

Yes, but I'm guessing that you paid too much for a non-screened SCART lead and you would have seen the improvement with any individually screened SCART lead at well less than a fiver. You still bought something way overpriced.

I agree evuyer deal is the one to go for. Its costs be a fiver and half an hour at least to go to Aldi...
#33
I bought the HDMI cable from ebuyer, as my bro has a HD 32" tv, and i thought for the price it would be worth a look to see what the diff is. My current tv only has a SCART connection:cry:, what would i need to buy to use the HDMI cable with my TV?:geek:
And would there still be a difference in quality?
#34
I can assure you, this is really something you would not want to do!
#35
oh? can you elaborate?
#36
Because SCART is analogue, standard definition and interlaced. You're losing any advantage that you might get with HDMI, and anything to do the conversion will cost a bomb.
#37
ah right, fair enough, thought it was as simple as just an adapter. thank you muchly!

Tend to agree, unless you need a cable now.

Only "fault" with Aldi tends to be lack of availability.Good shop generally though.

I think this is very hot, £5 for a Gold Plated HDMI to HDMI Cable is great value.
Good find jakeyaman.
