Anyone know if any of these car wash deals are for 'jet wash' or all just traditional close-your-windows-and-let-it-wash-over-you-with-rollers-type?

I ride a motorcycle you see.

P.S. Never jet wash a motorcycle ;)

You actually did?

I'd rather pay a little extra and get a hand job  These automatic car washes leave scratches on your car and never really clean the wheels.

Way heeey!

The Texaco up the road from us is not doing this, so not national. However they are doing milk at 50p off!

That should read close your windows and let the rollers rip the paint of your car.

Never use an automatic car was. Even if the rollers are set up correctly they stil damage the paintwork.

Agree about the wheels, but did you see the slot on fifth Gear recenly where they waxed three identical cars then put them through 1) A car wash, 2) A manual jet spray /brush & 3) A hand wash.

The car wash put the the least scratches on the car  which I have to say I found surprising.

That episode was sponsored by the ARC Car was company. :-D

No not really - but you have to take these things with a pinch of salt! If they completely dissed car washes they may end up getting sued for loss of business...

I have been watching a lot of fifth gear recently, and like the gadget show, I don't think their product tests are very scientific (but instead are more entertaining). Did anyone see the one last night where they compared the MPG of a Honda hybrid and a Diesel Golf. They had a green man in the Golf waving some tree branches in the guy's face and shouting at him to slow down and stuff (supposedly this was the equivalent of the Honda's eco computer). He wasn't even there in the Honda so it had an extra 12stone weight which the Honda didn't. They are also totally different cars and I bet the Honda wouldn't fair as well as the golf on the motorway (when the batteries become useless heavy weights). I hate the way they form a solid conclusion as if they've just carried out a scientific experiment with one variable :x

Cheaper than the bottled water they sell:thumbsup:

gepw made a comment about fifth Gear claiming the the car wash put the least number of scratches on cars. My point was that the fifth gear product tests were not very scientific so saying car washes are best is not necessarily true (although it probably was in that instance). Guess it depends on what car wash you go to, what car you have etc.

just pay your kids 50p and get them to wash it

voted cold, as i have never needed to spend a penny on car washes. either do it myself or get one of the kids to do it.

50p? That's very stingy. I used to get paid at least £2.

I am told there is a carwash in Glasgow where your car is washed by topless girls in their 20s.

I think its about £5 to £10 a time - depending upon how cold it is.

Lucky Glaswegians, my local hand car wash is manned by Eastern Europeans with hairy bits...they do a good job on the car for a fiver though.

They 'completely diss' at least half a dozen cars and therefore their manufacturers weekly so can't imagine they are too bothered about about that!

Will have to pop there and go for the wash. Anyone know how long this offer lasts?
