Long time lurker - first time poster so be gentle :)

Was stuck for power this afternoon whilst out and about and happened to stumble across this Texet power bank in Wilkos for £8.

I know there's loads of these kicking about cheap on ebay but this seems decent quality and IMO very good for the price.

I also found a curly lightning cable in the car section for £2.75 got the 2 and it juiced up my iPhone 5 from 11% to 60% over lunch and that was just out the box!

Thought I'd share anyway, the lightning cable is a bargain itself!

If you're a long time lurker, you'll know that asking people to 'be gentle' just results in a backlash!
If the deal is hot, it'll get heat. If it is a stinker (this is), then it'll go cold.

£8.00 for a 2,600mah reserve battery is a poor deal.

Spend a little more for a much higher capacity battery from a reputable company IMO.

Oh Wenttoabetterplace climb back in your box love , maybe then this would be a better place for new posters. Even if it isn't a great deal there is no need to slap a new person down just because they asked you to be gentle. People that target people like that are nothing but common bullies! Run home now mummy is calling.

I think you're the one that is being a bit precious here. HUKD is a very simple concept. You post a deal - others judge whether it is deserving of heat or not. Putting in the silly 'be gentle' stuff just distorts the voting process.
If a deal is hot, people will vote for it. Simple.

To be clear, this deal is cold - not because the OP asked for us to 'be gentle', but because the product in question is a piece of tat. Which way did you vote?

£3.69 on amazon if you don't mind waiting for delivery

The 'be gentle' phase is clearly aimed at people who comment and not the voting. The voting is the voting, if you don't agree it's a good deal that's fine, vote cold and move on. But to intentionally point out that phase and go on to have a dig is just bully boy tactics and there is no need , reason, or place for that sort of behaviour. When your mother told you that if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all, do you think she said it just to fill a silence or was it something you were meant to learn by??? I think you should ask you mother to explain it a bit more as you clearly didn't learn the lesson she was giving you!

This is the reason I don't post on here - never have I seen so many rude and ignorant people. Seems people post things that they think is good and ev1 just has a go at them - its so ignorant. Why can't people just be nice ??? If the post isn't of interest to you then why click on it ??? No need to comment if its not your thing

My point exactly.

Don't have a problem with the comments, though people can be a little "****" seems normal these days unfortunatley!

If people think it's cold or want to post links to better deals than that's fine, that's what the site's all about anyway!

I thought it was pretty good deal on the high street.. especially the lightning cable as I've seen so many cheap non-working ones on ebay/amazon.

Also similarly seen lots of other "deals" where the quality was awful... after using this product I just found it to be decent.

But all comments welcome :p

Haha .... I recognise you've got a bee in your bonnet about this. But look at my comments, and you will see that they have been more constructive (and less adversarial) than yours!
The OP said they were a long time lurker. It is for that reason that I told them not to ask us to 'be gentle'. They unquestionably already knew that it is poor form on HUKD to ask people to act in such a way.
Just post the deal, and then let it sink or swim on its own merits. Simple.

As for your comments about 'what would ones mother say'....come on, jump off that high horse :). You talk about me being a bully, then try to use the most silly condescension to talk me out of the discussion. Try harder 'love' ;)

I have highlighted in bold all of the 'constructive criticism' that I put in my original post;

"If you're a long time lurker, you'll know that asking people to 'be gentle' just results in a backlash!
If the deal is hot, it'll get heat. If it is a stinker (this is), then it'll go cold.
£8.00 for a 2,600mah reserve battery is a poor deal."

Yup - it was all intended as constructive criticism....and it sounds like constructive criticism too.

By the way, you have been a member on here for 2 years and 2 months...yet have posted no deals or contributed anything of interest at all. Frankly, if you make no contributions yourself, you really aren't in a position to comment about such things. Feel free to look through my profile and see how much I have contributed. I think I have earned a right to pass comment about what is/isn't good HUKD etiquette.

Avoid this power bank like the plague! I bought it and got 1 use out of it before it stopped working.

Yawn...didn't even bother reading all that. Wouldn't waste my time on someone who likes the sound of their own voice that much. Yes I have had a profile for a fair while but does that automatically translate to someone using the site in all that time does it smartie pants. No bee in my bonnet but I've clearly let one lose in yours bully boy (yes I have looked at your profile and you have a habit of doing this to people - you're a perfect example of bad etiquette if you want to know what that actually means)

Have to agree with that as far as he / she wasn't having a dig. OTOH you have on more than one occasion here. And when I see "run along to mummy" posts...oO

i do not suggest you to buy those low price power bank from a unknow manfacturer, it could use a second hand power cell or low quality one(made by a small chinese factory), the performance will be 20-50% lower than good 2600mah power bank, the most important thing is they ARE NOT are not safety.

please buy those power bank which are using Samsuang, LG, Sanyo ... battery cell (18650 Li) made by Japan, South Koren or Taiwan

I got mine for £2 off ebay and its not even worth that
#22
I just paid £6 for this power bank in Wilkos and tbh for what it is I think it's a good deal, it seems well constructed from aluminium and has given me 2 full charges without fail. If it eventually breaks then Ive had my money's worth.
#23
I got one today and have already found it extremely useful, yeah it may be a bit on the pricey side but in a rush, it's worth it
