Hotels often are rediculously cheap out there, it is the flight that is very expensive. Good if you have just a flight planned though.
Not voted either way.

after 7 weeks of travelling thailand 7 years back i don't think i spent more than £2 a night.. although 7 years on i rate hot
#6
they were expensive when I went in jan, minimum £50 for bangkok, and £35 for phuket for anything clean and decent, dont know if i would risk these unless your backpacking with freinds or something, perfect for that

I'm also a big hit with the ladies :p

Good deal.

HOT!!

Accommodation is ridiculously cheap in Thailand anyway but this is an absolutely mental price. I went 3 years ago and was paying 300-400 baht (about £5-6) a night for beach chalet type rooms.

It may be cheap in Thailand anyway but I can't see how anyone could find anything cheaper than this.

Thailand is getting more and more commercial and expensive.

If you're looking for something different and cheap accommodation then head to Vietnam and Laos where you'll get so much more for your money. Having travelled around most of SE Asia, Vietnam (IMO) has the most to offer and somewhere i dream i can return.
#13
Hotel rooms this cheap? Dodgy I say... even for Thailand.
#14
How did you get this price its coming up as £25 a night for me?

Same here, do you have sample dates OP?

ibis is a pretty basic but nice room very comfy alot of chinese like to stay here on group tours.

only down side is when i stayed there you can hear every door open and slam which is annoying.

this is a great deal if your planning on staying cheap. rooms in thailand have gone up in price but you still can get basic rooms for a couple quid. around khao sarn road area. ect.

dates seem to be for july aug. time anything after goes up to around £20+.

watch out for them ladyboys. :p

You didnt shop around, good hostels start at around £7 a night, and I just booked a 4 star hotel for tomorrow night for £39. Much cheaper if you shop around.
Hotels.com is a great place to look.

$2 per hour more like !!
#19
$3.04 comes up for early August but sadly only lets you book 1 day at that price. great find
#20
all I need now is a cheap flight to go with it..... that might be harder to find!
#21
Cheap enough to say "Phuket, I'll go".
#22
I cant find these prices... I am about 5 mins bike ride away from Ibis Bo Put as well - would have tried it out for a month at these prices.

ok, found it - thanks a lot! will let you all know what its like :) - thats my weekend treat sorted out.
#23
Couldn't actually use the website to book.
Rubbish!
#24
you do have to pay taxes on top I found the site easy to use and found 10 days in july for £2 (gbp) but when you try to book the price goes up to £183.94 still a bargain though. heres the link for the page I found (hope it works) http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/booking/hotels-list.shtml

For an extra $1 per night you can get a riot shield and a tear gas mask thrown in.

And a ladyboy detector is essential..........you can rent one for $5 a week (the detector that is)

When I went a couple of years ago it was about a fiver a night in most places, rarely less unless you went to other countries or shared rooms.

I'd call £5 per night cheap myself.

Not particularly - it's about as commercial and as western as it gets and hasn't changed much lately, it's not more expensive either, unless you mean because of the exchange rate. True, you'll get a little more for your money in Vietnam and Laos, but not by a heck of a lot. Vietnam doesn't offer much more personally, I'd rather try other places than revisit.

Most of the hostels I went to were a fiver a night, did book a really nice hotel in Johor Bahru (Malaysia) because I wanted a break from hostels and to lie on a huge double bed over looking the town spread eagle.. just to relax. :P

Seriously considering Thailand now for myself in September. Just seen a flight to Bangkok for £408 return which sounds reasonable to me. I assume they have Ibis too :)

wow, you have been ripped off! - in Samui its about 50b - 1 pound a bottle of chang in the bars if you can drink that crap, or i saw tonight in Cheweng for 90b a pint - so £1.87 a pint - cheaper than UK I am pretty sure unless you hunt around - btw, its 48.7b to the pound last time I looked (daily!)

you could always do what the looser backpackers do here in Samui, and thats buy a bottle of big chang from 7-11 and sneak it into a bar or just sit outside 7-11 all night drinking it there.

Wine is expensive, i'll give you that, it has import tax of about 400% - the bargain round here is rum or whiskey - about £2 a bottle - a lot of bars sell buckets of whiskey and coke for about £6 for 2 - about 6 shots in each bucket.

ok, off to bed, early night for me (3:47am) clubs dont shut till 6am ish in Samui.

any one found any dates in November ?
