The Apple Iphone 8GB - Sim Free

Please don't vote cold first!! This is the first SIM Free Apple Iphone 8GB deal in the UK!!

It is £411.24 at eBuyer. Obviously you can get an US hacked version from eBay for cheaper price. However, this is the first ever SIM free deal you can buy from the UK with valid warranty and services!!

I think it is worth to pay £50 for the valid warranty and services. How do you guys think?!

Here is another iPhone deal replied by spudgun.

http://gcspcs.co.uk/store/index.php?...&productId=446

It is £339.99.

However I am not sure if it is the UK version as this company is not as reputated as eBuyer.

Why people voted cold?!

Consider you will only get a legally activated UK iPhone on O2 network for £269 + £35 x 18mth contract.

This is a great price to get a LEGALLY ACTIVATED & UNLOCKED iPhone with valid warranty and services!!

super hot...

if people know what iPhone is and how hard it is get a legally unlocked version.. they wouldn't vote cold.

Amazing post..

Thanks mate.

The same one costs 999 euro in Germany from T-mobile.

Il heat this up for ya. Out of my price range for a phone. But some day....some day
#5
I agree this is hot.
Sure the iPhone will become more available, but as it stands this deal is hot!

Cheapest elsewhere seems to be around £470.

Good post - rep given - voted hot

true 'tis a hot deal if you want one of these, and I've voted accordingly but, £411 and it doesn't even have video or gps. You could get the n95 8gb for £449 at play
#7
Seems a good deal compared to paying the god knows what for it on a 18 month contract. Personally, this is nothing compared to business smartphones, it's just another iAmCool model :whistling:

Not sure about this retailer but they say £340 ?

Mmm, i think my one is hacked, right?
#9
Says SIM free, but it is it unlocked? Or is it just for O2?
#10
Thanks guys above.

Honestly Iphone is not a mobile for everyone as it is expensive and lacks of GPS and 3G.

However for people really like it, they will appreciate to get a legally unlocked version at this price.

By the way, there is no way to even illegally unlock the UK version Iphone so far.
#11
bad deal, the phone is overpriced anyway and overated and the n95 has far better features if thats what tickles your fancy.

I think "SIM free" means you can use any GSM SIM card.

Yup but it's been unlocked by them not by apple

Firmware upgraded to 1.1.1 for extra connectivity. If this frimware is changed the phone may lose some extra connectivity or lock and we are not responsible for this Please turn updates off and you will not have a problem. By updating the firmware you are altering the phone to how we sold it to you and warranty with us is void.
#14
I'm sooo tempted...
#15
What stopped me from buying a sim free one from the states for £208? Nothing :)
#16
Vote HOT if you think its a hot deal, your not exactly doing HUKD members a service by ASKING people to vote hot....

Its just making bad deals look better and not genuine.
#17
In the States, teenager George Hotz, 17, who was the first to unlock his iPhone so it could be used on networks outside the US has traded the gadget for a brand new Nissan 350Z. They also gave him a paid consultancy job and 3 more iPhones. iPhone unlocking is now big business.

Lets get unlocking... I will offer my Nissan Sunny 1.3L for the first person to do it !

Well spotted! I'm not interested if I can't upgrade the firmware like any contract bought iphone. Sure, it is unlocked, but I want full functionality or nothing.

Think I'll pass...

Perhaps the people voting cold are big fans of Public Enemy?

No updates, kinda lame considering apple will be allowing apps on it soon so you don't need to hack. Still hot if you want one off contract, it is gadget of the year.

You can activate it without taking out the contract. Ebuyer has unlocked it themselves and just offered their own guarantee.

Who said this was is legal or illegal?
#22
yes there is a way to unlock UK purchased IPhones , I've seen 1.1.2 O2 phones unlocked. Upgraded mine to 1.1.2 by mistake and downgraded it, which is the same procedure to hack an O2 phone.

Rubbish phone, overprice, Apple is nasty

"Please don't vote cold first"

Surely it's my decision whether or not I vote cold or not, that's the point of having a voting system on this site. This site is a public arena, and by posting on it you agree to have your post judged. As far as I'm aware there's no rules on this site by what criteria the 'heat' of a deal should be judged, as a registered member I can decide the criteria for myself. Whether I click the 'Hot', 'Warm' or 'Cold' button is entirely up to me. You seem a little sensitive to people voting your post/deal cold, especially if your first reply on this thread is anything to go by. I find all the 'why have people voted this cold?' replies to be a little strange. People have voted it cold because they thought it was a cold deal, as is their right as registered members of this site. Their opinion differs to yours, get over it. They're annonymous people over the internet, it doesn't matter that much.
#25
Before you rush out and spend £400+ on a phone, just bear in mind that the iphone won't let you send multimedia messages, you can't forward on texts and you can't send texts to multiple recipients.

But... they are pretty damn nice phones all the same. I won't be buying one until the phone can do stuff my old Nokia could do 5 years ago :(

wow... that was long

I thought it was pretty clear that they were just asking people to read the deal - the explanation - before voting hot or cold... hence the word 'first'

I bet you write a lot of complaint letters about your consumer rights and to your MP etc, don't you?

Good price for a rubbish phone. I'll keep my N95 thanks.

Except one of the features of the N95 is that it only has a battery that lasts a day!

The iPhone is a lovely piece of kit, the N95 is bloated.

iphone won't let you send multimedia messages

You can when you install MMS.APP : http://www.iphonealley.com/news/native-mms-app-for-iphone

(although you still can't receive them)
#32
I don't particularly care for anything Apple.
It's an OK deal for those that really really want one of these sim free.

This is worth a read though, it's quite amusing :)

This deal is awesome. Voted HOT. Well spottedn.

As for the phone itself, it too is awesome. Its plenty more than just a phone - its a wicked portable digital photo album, its a full-fledged iPod, video player (full-screen video too!), email device, and proper web browser.

You absolutely have to play with one to appreciate it fully.

On paper, the lack of GPS and 3G compared to other phones in its class may seem significant if these things are important to you. Personally, I've had an iPhone now for five(ish) months, and I've:

a) only really ever needed mobile Internet a few times. Most of the time I'm in wireless access point range. I have used GPRS once or twice when I absolutely needed it.

b) also got a TomTom Go to do my Sat-Nav'ing needs.

...so lack of 3G and GPS aren't really important to me.

Another significant consideration that is mostly overlooked by people when buying a device (mp3 player, computer, etc...) is the usability of the device. If something technically excels on paper, but day-to-day is a pain to use, then you'll end up just not using the device at all. The iPhone is a pleasure to use, makes sense, and does what its told.

If you can afford this kind of cash, and 3G isn't absolutely essential for you, then you really aren't going to get a much better media player / mobile phone that this.

The N95 8GB has a larger capacity battery than the standard N95, and it performs pretty well. The N95 8GB is an incredible phone.

Thanks for the info, ctafield.

Craigp, how do you cope not being able to forward on jokes to multiple people? Are there any other serious limitations?

Of course there isn't as it isn't against the law.
It's not illegal to unlock phones in the uk, so why are people talking about this one being legal and other unlocked ones being illegal?
#37
That said, if it was me, I'd try and get an old 1.1.1 firmware one from somewhere and hack and SIM unlock that instead.

Mine's been hacked since I've had it, and I've got it running on T-Mobile with loads of third-part apps installed (MMS app, Internet Radio app, some games, GBA emulator, VNC client, etc...)
#38
Still way too expensive for what it is.
#39
Will be interesting to see if the ebuyer one is really unlocked or just patched using anysim. Guess its depends on how reputable their supplier is, which we don't know who it is.
#40
No lonegr on e-buyer - this msg just came up; "Sorry, this product is now discontinued and is no longer available for sale on the Ebuyer.com website."
