Fine to repost after a month :)

A pound's not bad for any sporting event on Dvd but it was proper cringeworthy the way the media went totally overboard about the victory. The fact that the entire team were given MBE's / OBE''s just for winning one match which they theoreticaly had a 50/50 chance of winning in the first place was rather embarrasing.

Still worth listing again as not all Poundland stores receive the same stock at the same time...
I got colds for pointing out that Banbury Poundland had the F1 review in, apparently Birmingham & Glasgow already had already had them and was already listed some time before but Banbury didn't have them in then so I am all for repetition if it means people are going to find bargains in their local store.

I went to the same store in Cardiff on the first day of the Ashes test. I bought a few and flogged them in the ground.

EH! Am I missing something here? The Ashes is a 5 test series. That's 5 games.

They still had a 50/50 chance of winning or losing the whole thing no matter how many games they played so my point about why they were all given MBE's / OBE's is still valid.

On top of that there was the issue of the Sport's Personality of the year award of which there were certainly more deserving causes that year.

Ok, disregard the recent history if you like.
The Aussies had had England in their back pockets for a long, long time prior to that series.
I get the feeling that you're not a cricket fan and don't really understand how much regaining the Ashes meant to the cricket loving public.
But this place is not the place to discuss the rights or wrongs of accolades handed out - it's to discuss whether or not the item is a bargain or not.
Best leave it there, eh.

Don't get me wrong I'm glad England won that year and hope we do so again this year. As with all sports I hope England beat our rivals regardless of whether I have an interest in the particular sport or not as that's my nationality. And yes I do think the deal is a bargain which I stated earlier.

I'm fully aware the Aussies have dominated us in the Ashes for about as long as I can remember but imo giving out MBE's and OBE's for victory against one other team is basically aknowledging that we have always been sh!t.

By all means celebrate the victory, go out and have a party if that's what you want to do, then move on. If I were an Aussie I would have been laughing my back side off over the MBE's / OBE's!!

BTW. Top marks for flogging a few DVD's at the first test I love the innitiative, how much did you get for them if you don't mind me asking?

 What an odd statement ! - if you look at it like that EVERY sport comes into that category - If there are 2 teams or 2 contestants then theoretically they have 50 percent chance of winning.

Would you say the same about the 1966 world cup final??..we had a 50% chance of winning that???

How odd!!!:whistling:

Tell me did the England cricket team have to play 3 group games, a quarter final and a semi final in order to the reach the game against Australia? The England football team had to get past six other teams to win the World Cup mate - not just one. The Ashes is played between two teams only - nobody else is involved. That's why the media hysteria and the Queen dishing them out honours was pathetic!!
