A long awating release of a classic comedy film.

Hemel Pike is part of a dying breed, he's a British narrow boat trader, and the only way they'll get him off the canals is if they fill them in. He also has a reputation to keep up as the notorious Casanova of the canals. But his way with the women soon gets him trouble when one of his many squeezes falls pregnant. Suddenly Hemel Pike find himself persuaded by her protective, hot headed, drunken father eager to chase her up the aisle.

Created by legendary comedy writing duo Ray Galton and Alan Simpson (Steptoe and Son, Hancock's Half Hour), The Bargee stars some of the most iconic comedians of British TV and film, including: Eric Sykes (Sykes Versus ITV), Harry H Corbett (Steptoe and Son), Ronnie Barker (Porridge, Open All Hours), Derek Nimmo (Oh Brother) and Richard Briers (The Good Life). Beautifully shot, wonderfully nostalgic and funny, The Bargee is a forgotten British gem with a cast of comedy heroes

This is a good film but I think i'll wait till they lower the price to around a fiver after all it is nearly 50 years old.
Heat added BTW.

This film is a genuine 60s nostalgia fest that portrays a world that is sadly long gone. Ironically when this was being filmed the barges were being decommisioned in their hundreds as they had been decimated by the winter of 63 when the canals froze over for 8 weeks. The cargo moved to the rail and roads and never returned. Shame as the canals were an example of a bygone age when the pace of life was much slower and we all had time to appreciate life more.

Ah, Harry H.... all we have now passing for comedy actors is ******* Russell Brand and his ilk... preserve us from all these talentless knobs.
