Sunflower/Surfs Up: 2CDLINK HERE
This CD comprises both Beach boys albums "Sunflower" and "Surf's Up" on one CD and are two of the Beach Boys less well-known efforts and was produced in a time of much turmoil for the band.

Having signed to a new label and with the return of Brian Wilson the albums have a more mellow feeling than they earlier more pop style and were moving further from the close harmony of their original style. That doesn't mean the albums aren't any good because on the contrary they are both fantastic and show that despite a change in the mood of the nation from the 60s into the 70s the Beach boys continued to produce some great work including the brilliant "Feel Flows" off "Surf's Up" which has a really chilled feeling that sounds nothing like a Beach boys song and yet captures the spirit of the beach and the cool summery vibe they were famous for.

Despite the evolution these albums still contain some traditionally Beach boys songs like "Add Some Music To Your Day" and the breathtaking "Coo, Cool Water" there is a sense of love within the albums that is really infectious and these albums move through musical genres in ways the Beach boys had never attempted before. It shows that the rest of the group had taken some of the writing responsibilities from Brian and what you get is a much more varied album. Brilliant, understated and instantly enjoyable. A great collection of two classic albums.
