This is the LIMITED EDITION bundle, not the band in a box pack. It comes with higher quality instruments (by far) than any other band bundle out there.

The drums are visibly different with white pads and a stronger, metal foot pad and metal frame:

http://images17.newegg.com/is/image/newegg/74-105-647-TS?$S300W$

The microphone stand is also high quality, strong metal, and the hofner bass is perhaps the most sturdy guitar you can get right now.

Now for the important part: These are the ONLY drums that will be fully compatible with Rock Band 3. In pro mode you need cymbals. They'll be available to buy seperately but will only work with these, or future RB3-bundled drums.

Those cheap drums you keep seeing for under a tenner? They're the rock band 1 drums.. quite flimsy and cheap. They don't contain expansion slots thus you can't plug cymbals in.

Typical online prices for this bundle are > £120 and the guitar alone can set you back £60 if bought seperately. The drums are NOT available seperately.

When rock band 3 comes out you can bet your life that a band pack will set you back more than double this.

I own this bundle and have to say I feel I got an absolute steal, especially after trying out the cheaper equivalents and realising just how much nicer these are.

I know in Milton Keynes they've had this price for 2 months now, all formats. If anyone can confirm their stores are doing it please post. :)

Confirmed sightings:

* Milton Keynes Central
* Birmingham
* Bromley
* Reading Oracle store
* Moorgate store in London

Also, You can get the PS3 one online for £10 more. Still a good deal for premium quality instruments.

I've been after good deal on a full band guitar hero or band hero for a while now....this looks like a good price.

Just rang my local branch and they don't have any

This is a HOT price!
Great fun too for all the family
#4
OOS everywhere I tried, this is apparently Summer sale stock
#5
Had two out on shop floor per format last weekend in central MK. Hopefully some people will manage to score some before they all go :)
#6
Hmm someone expired - seems a bit premature. I can take photos that my shop has stock, and I don't doubt some other shops will have some too.

Out of stock at
Chesterfield
Mansfield
Derby
Sheffield high St
Sheffield Meadowhall
Barnsley
#8
Is this the usual: Available in 0.000000001% of HMV stores!
#9
I was hoping for wider availability. Guess I'm lucky.. shall I blag them all and re-sell? muahhaha

If it's mainly out of stock, I hope I at least gave some good info on the instruments.

Which platform is this for? Or doesn't it matter?
#11
All three.
#12
Summer time it was on sale for 49.99£ (X360 and Wii). Looks like it went up a bit.

Also available for PS3 - 79.99£ online with free delivery
#13
Added that to original post (it's still a good price), cheers mieciux!

I remember it being £49.99 but not sure that was the limited edition?
#14
is the guitar as good as the other ltd edition ones?
#15
Hot but can't compare to the RB3 pack - doesn't have keyboard for a start :)
#16
These were in HMV's in around Birmingham last weekend (Bullring and The Fort)
#17
ello

they were selling this for 50 quid 3 months ago

@ PR1 - You get the hofner bass replica (a bass, can be used as a guitar of course). The strummer feels squishy rather than clicky (like the guitar hero guitars). However you can open up the guitar and tweak this if you really must have an annoying clicky noise. It's more well built/solid than the cheaper ones:

http://gamerdork.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/hofnerxbox.jpg

http://gamerdork.net/?p=2937

.. plus you can only get it in this bundle, or £70 or so on ebay.

@bez - to get a guitar, drums, microphone, microphone stand AND a game for this price on the rock band 3 bundle - no chance. Not gonna happen. Add a keyboard in (rrp nearly £100 alone) and all I can say is ouchie! I estimate > £200 for the whole lot, and over £300 if you want the pro guitar.

So lets say you got this bundle now for 60-70. In RB3 you then need cymbals and the keyboard, which I reckon will be a grand total of UNDER £200, so still saving money if you act quickly.

I'm hoping I only have to get the cymbals, not fussed about the super duper pro guitar just yet. And don't care about keyboard.. I like to hit things.. BANG BANG!

@ otonytonton: I *think* that was the band in a box bundle, the one with crappy instruments. I saw it too.

They've had these in the Bromley branch for the last few weeks.

Not sure if they're still there but definitely worth a try - PS3 version.
#20
I know there was a compatibility issue with the guitar not working with guitar hero games. I'm not sure if it's been fixed in a patch. Can anyone confirm?

Voted hot anyway.
#21
@kebabthief: On all formats that's fixed now. On the PS3 it took them a while but we're all good - I have most of the BH and RB games and had no issues. I think there's only GH3 and Aerosmith you'd be unable to play (GH2 is PS2, so irrelevant).

Go here, click "compatibility by instrument" then have a look at guitar/drums/bass for the beatles instruments.

the cymbals won't be coming to us to expand gameplay in rock band 3 so if your buying for pro drum im sorry it ain't going to happen.
#23
@Ghostbuster - All instruments required for "pro mode" will be released here. The only reason cymbals have been US-only to date is they're optional i.e. they add nothing to the gameplay pre-RB3, they're just alternatives so you can hit a red cymbal instead of a red pad.

Nah, it was the Limited Edition. I remember because at around the same time I got the LE delivered from Game for *I think* £45 -cashback, and a friend just got it in store at HMV for £50.

Still, ok price if you missed that. I'm working under the presumption that every previous release will collapse in price at RB3 release - the boxes take up far too much floor space, and retailers already have a crapton of GH: WoR packs they can't shift let alone the older stuff.

I think the beatles LE one will retain it's price more than the others tbh - since it's literally the only other option for "pro drums" other than buying a (no doubt overpriced) RB3 set.

That's probably why it's still over 100 quid online everywhere, whereas other stuff is crashing hard.

I think it's only Guitar Hero 3 that the guitar isn't compatible with, on the xbox anyways.

Are these the wireless drums from RB2? I had a set brought over when yankee relatives came over and they have the cymbal sockets. I'm hoping they are compatible with the pro-mode :/

Yup they are wireless, and they definitely have the cymbal ports. They basically *are* the RB2 drums from the states.

Ltd Ed. set is cool! Bit bummed how much I paid for mine not long after release & how much u can pick it up for now - but hey ho!

After one of the apparent Ltd Ed. accessory guitars (Harrison Gretsch or Lennon Rickenbacker) if anyone sees one at a decent price please let me know (PM me or email me [email protected]). Few place online have got them but talking £70-£100+. None floating about on ebay either :( Rumours are HMV have a stack in storage but not on display. Wish I'd bought one when they were selling them for about £40 last Xmas. Like I say if anyone does see them anywhere please let me know.

Finally good site for owners...
http://www.rockband.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=40

Current issue is to get more DLC (downloadable content) to add to the 45 songs on the game & the 3 DLC albums they issued in the 3 months following the release of the game.

Cheers

Bit more info on why people should hunt this down.. pay £70 for the drums AND a guitar AND a microphone AND a game.. or buy the RB3 drums for over £80?

http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=78637&utm_source=linkshare&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=deeplink&affID=77777&sourceID=je6NUbpObpQ-Pqey3auAJz7fkgxf32lg4A

..and then still need to buy a guitar and micrphone and a game!

nb. The cymbals here will be available to buy seperately, I'm guessing £30-£40.

Long story short you can get all this stuff for the same price as *one* RB3 instrument.

More info on RB3 here:

They had a couple of the PS3 boxes in the HMV Moorgate store in London. Sadly no xbox :-(
#39
Just picked up the last PS3 one marked up at £69.99 from Milton Keynes but they had 3 others marked at £79.99 not sure if they would scan at £69.99 as well.

I'm chatting with madcatz about why we can't see the cymbals as standalone.. will be starting a petition if they have the audacity to not release them seperately (thus forcing people with the RB2/beatles drums to buy.. the RB2 drums again, bundled with the cymbals)
