Probably because the items in their 'sale' are actually more or less the same price as what other shops have been selling them for.

Virgin's pricing is all over the place, a quick browse of the dvd boxset and games section and many of the offers are cheaper in-store than online!, surely it should be the other way round .. madness!

As pointed out the sale doesn't look that great. If you've seen some good items you could post links to them.

Also the mod's policy here is everybody should always vote for everything, so you'd better grab our attention before we vote cold!

I picked up Cruel Intentions DVD in store the other day because it was just £1.99 and they'd started doing a 10% student discount. Online? £2.99, no student discount, difficult to read search results (I couldn't find it the first time, clicked on a £5.99 available DVD, that didn't exist, maybe they put it on sale while I was browsing? went back and found the £2.99 one). HMV usually do it right.

hmv and virgin are laughable. the basically stick about 20% on top of what it would cost you online elsewhere. lord knows how they stay in business.

A surprising number of things I want come out with HMV at the top at comparison sites like www.find-dvd.co.uk www.find-games.co.uk www.find-cd.co.uk (compares with the obvious ones like play.com, sendit.com, the hut and somes I don't know so well) even before you count quidco 6% and student 10% or whatever vouchers are circulating. I don't have blind brand loyalty or anything but for what I'm buying they're often the cheapest I can find! Virgin... not quite so often. Guess it depends what you're buying, they're not usually the best for chart stuff.
