I used the DVD today actually. Worked on the strength part (will do cardio tomorrow). Seems pretty good from what I can see so far, obviously I can't see any difference on my weight at the moment having used it for 40minutes but seems like keeping it up will work. I'm 17st. 1lb. at the moment (was 20st. 7lb. nearly five months ago). If you want to lose serious weight not just a couple of pounds then change your diet heavily first. I used to eat pizza, sausages and chips all the time. Now I eat chicken, fish and pasta. I don't reward myself with a takeaway at the end of the week or anything like that either as I find it much easier to just cut all the bad out and then over time you just forget how it tastes so you don't miss it.

Replace chips with boiled potatoes
Roast potatoes with jacket potato
Sausages with Chicken breast fillet (not breaded)
Pizza with Pasta
Fish fingers or whatever with Fish (not battered)
Packet of crisps with rice cake
Chocolate bars with cereal bars
Peanut butter with marmite
Eat more fruit.
White bread with brown/wholemeal and 50% less slices than before.

and so on... do all that and you'll be on your way, then try and find a team sport you enjoy. Team sports are great as you're working with other people into the same sport and you don't feel like you're exercising you're just having fun.

... and now started the DVD whiich I'm going to do cardio Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Strength on Tuesday and Thursday.

Should get me there I reckon.

Commit to it. I'll admit today I didn't have the urge or anything to go do the DVD at all but glad I did it anyway as you could feel it and can tell you're working yourself out.

The thing is though, there's no point in JUST doing the DVD if you're not going to change your diet because then you'll just burn off some of the fat you take in from the junk foods you're used to eating and you might lose a little weight from the workout if you're doing it regularly but it won't be significant. Change the diet first and it'll start dropping off. Don't stray from it and go "oh one night having fish chips and curry won't hurt" because then you'll have the urge for it when you can't be bothered to cook sometime. Throw out any takeaway numbers/menus you've got. Get rid of the fatty foods in the house, give them to someone you don't like and don't mind getting fatter or something ;) You'll hear a lot of people say a treat once a week is good but if you do then you'll keep having urges for that food that will make it harder for you over time.

The foods I eat now are much better for me and easy/quick to cook. You don't even need to know how to use the oven. Fish and Chicken in the grill, jacket potato in the microwave, peas and corn, carrots in the microwave, boiled potato and pasta... boiled. Easy stuff.

Cut out fizzy drinks and alcohol too. Replace with water or ribena/squash drinks.

... and if you smoke, you know what to do there ;)

i ordered this from zavvi using the £2.50 voucher - so was a bit cheaper but this is the best deal without voucher code - good find should help alot of us who want to make a fresh start in 2010! heat and rep added and good luck to all of those on your weight loss journeys maybe someone should start a thread so we can all encourage one another?

Good idea, I'm up for that. Not starting a thread, but certainly taking part. I've got tons of weight to lose (probably quite literally if I stood on the scales!). Got a good friend in the same boat as me (it'll probably sink soon :-D) so might order 2 copies of this and see how we get along.

I've just bought Just Dance for the wii - Wii Fit bored the pants off me, and that looks loads more fun. Just wish I could get the kids off Mario Kart so I could find the time to do these things!

Agree with all of this except the team sports part. I have lost a similar amount of weight by doing the same - (17st10 - 13st 10) - but I either go tot he gym or run / cycle. Sadly I don't have the time to participate in team sports (requires a lot of commitment) but I can get up early and run in the mornings.

As stated earlier - it is down to commitment - and even if you do fall off the wagon, don't worry, just get back on!

I never fall off the wagon, I leap off in the most spectacular fashion every time, usually about 2 days in. Not this time though...(have I said that before?!)

Just done the cardio workout after doing the strength one yesterday and both get you working without a doubt. I preferred the strength. It was less repetitive than the cardio as you'd expect really and I think I prefer the woman than the bloke too really. Still, back to strength tomorrow.

3 stone in a year is great and much more sensible than losing 200lbs in 2 weeks like they do on The Biggest Loser. I've lost 6 stone total but it's taken me almost 3 years to do it!
