Eight-year old Bruno is an innocent, sheltered, young boy who knows nothing of the Holocaust and the cruelties that his county are inflicting upon the people of Europe. Bruno lives a very comfortable lifestyle in pre-war Germany, but has no real friends, however this changes when his family move home so his father can take a new position as the commandeer in a prison camp. Bruno meets another young boy called Shmuel, who dresses strangely in stripped pyjamas and lives on the other side of an electrified fence. The two boys become friends and Bruno soon has his eyes opened to the devastating reality that the yard next to his is actually a prison camp for Jews awaiting execution.

Directed by British filmmaker, Mark Hermon and staring Vera Farmiga and David Thewlis, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas is an emotional tale of friendship, which will tug at your heart strings - one not to be missed!

Great film, very sad though, but not as good as "Life is Beautiful" one of my favourites:), very sad but very uplifting
I heard it was a bit of a letdown, but each to their own... I still fancy seeing it though and making my own mind up.

Cheers for posting... Might do the crafty one and get it for my Mam's birthday!
Having read the book I had high expectations for the movie. Unfortunately, the movie was rather disappointing. Recommend the book though!
Wouldn't recommend the film. It's very plodding and takes itself too seriously.
...takes itself too seriously.

Hardly surprising given the subject matter.

Personally I thought the film was quite superb.
