On Channel 4's opening night, November 2nd 1982, a comedy supergroup was assembled for 'The Comic Strip presents Five go Mad in Dorset' written by Peter Richardson and Pete Richens. Every single aspect of Enid Blighton's 'Famous Five' stories was subject to spoof and savage abuse, bad plotting and stilted dialogue but especially na? characterisation. All the goodies are white and middle class, everyone else is a baddie.
This pretty well set the pattern for the next 18 years - spoof and abuse for everything and everybody. The core team of Richardson, Edmondson, Saunders and French were joined by just about every member of the comic establishment as well as many British character actors and soap stars.
You want to see the first appearance of Eddie Monsoon? It's here with Adrian Edmondson playing the part, long before his wife Jennifer Saunders took it on. You want to see Elvis Costello's acting debut? Watch The Bullshitters. The highlights list is endless - Peter Cooke as Mr Jolly, Robbie Coltrane as Ken in GLC, Jeff Beck as 'Musical MP', Nigel Planer in the airplane galley. A must-have collection, for watching and for dipping into, not just for swatting up for pub quizzes.

Hilarious collection of send-ups and TV spoofs from the Comic Strip regulars and friends.

I'm sure you're a proud Weegie but writing the way you do makes it hard for a lot of people to understand you, and I'm pretty sure that it's more difficult for you to write.

Anyway, good deal and worth it for Bad News!
