Diagnosed with several aged related diseases at birth, Benjamin Button is withered, old-looking and is given little chance of survival. Benjamin's mother dies in childbirth and his father, appalled by what he sees, abandons Benjamin at an African-American nursing home. Queenie, a black woman and caregiver at the home, takes care of Benjamin and raises him as her own. Benjamin even makes a friends with 'Daisy' a little girl whose grandmother is a resident at the home and they remain lifelong friends through writing. As the years go by Benjamin discovers that he is extraordinary as he ages backwards, becoming increasingly youthful. When he is eventually strong and old enough he leaves the retirement home and seeks his fortune aboard and eventually finds Daisy again. This soon blossoms into a beautiful but doomed romance, because the fact remains, that as Benjamin grows younger into a child, Daisy becomes an old women.
