how do hmv process pre orders? is cash taken now or when its posted out?
#7
Bluray has x6 better quality picture than dvd i think or near enough (like Hd-dvd quality which is now no more) you will need a PS3 that has Bluray built in or an actual Bluray Player to play the discs ;-)

ok . I'll bite :) HD-DVD is dead, was the competing Hi def format to Blu Ray. BR is Sonys hi def format.

Buy a PS3 .... it is the best bluray player out there. and a damn good games console too.

And now I've bitten, you can go back under your bridge mr Troll ... :-D

any way of knowing if this will be region free or locked to B? I have a HK PS3 so need region A titles if locked.

Just wondered if HMV is an option, or if ebay or amazon.com are a safer bet?

thanks

Some leaked info for the geeks on here like me: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=1787
Voted hot, but I'm going to hold out for an exclusive box set including Gotham Knight or something.
#14
This film is worth £100.
#15
I see that the older Batman films are being released on Blu Ray shortly after Christmas, I wonder if they will do a box set of all the Batman films on Blu Ray?
#16
Thanks, Heat + Rep left for a great price, £3 cheaper than PLAY.com + 7% Quidco.

It has 6x more pixels for most studio releases at 1080p

That is NOT 6x better quality!

It is a lot better on a big screen than DVD but not 6x better!

We're NOT talking the difference from VHS->DVD here!

I was thinking of holding out, but hmv don't take the cash until its despatched so if another one comes along, just have to cancel the order.

I always check this website for region coding info on blu-rays http://bluray.liesinc.net/
But i think it might be too early for The Dark Knight to be on there! Keep an eye out tho!

The discs hold 6x more data than dual layer dvds, the picture is supposed to have up to 5x more detail than regular dvd's. I don't think it looks like 5x more detail either btw :)

wow i cant believe somone had been under a rock and didnt know what a BD is lol.

this is a great price, was hoping for a steelbook edition like WB sometimes do.

but with student code its £13.49 and quidco should bring it to about £12.50 so super deal.

FALSE, it'll only hold 6x more data if it's a DUAL LAYER disk, which 95% of films released on the format are not. This might be an exception, but it's too early to tell.

Long and short of it is: It's better Quality than DVD, but it's not as big a jump as from VHS to DVD.

I dont want to argue with you but its not false, so a couple of quotes below.

From Microsoft (About The HD-DVD Addon), I got a flyer with my HD-DVD player and the 360 add-on.http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360hddvdplayer/

Stunning video and immersive surround-sound audio with up to six times higher resolution than standard DVD.

From Sony, you can find the info most places they sell blue-ray players
Blu-ray Disc™ has a storage capacity of up to 6 times regular DVD and achieves a transfer rate which is much faster than digital high-definition broadcast, allowing enjoyment of high-quality video images in the living room, just like in the movie theatre.

And nearly all the blu-ray discs in the last lot of months have been 50gb, click on a review and see what discs they use http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/reviews.html

Amazon.co.uk are now doing the dark knight for £15 as well http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dark-Knight-Discs-Blu-ray/dp/B001CEE1WG
