Thanks:thumbsup:
I think good on him for not selling Harry Potter/halloween stuff because of his beliefs. The shops dont open on sundays either.

Mine too this week when I ordered - but I also used the 7% discount code flying about - so that's probably why mine was cancelled.

7% code 'mvc7' posted here: http://www.hotukdeals.com/deal/52789/7-discount-at-the-toy-shop

Amusing though that he sells magic kits http://www.thetoyshop.com/Toys/NoveltyAndVirtual/Magic.jsp

50% off my ****.

There's about three things at 50% off - everything else has a quid knocked off.

In store these guys do amazing deals, on-line they're dreadful.

I think you'll find these are just tricks not 'real' magic!

- and I wouldn't be looking out for any Golden Compass, film tie in stuff anytime soon!!!

Most if not all of these prices have been available for weeks on the site - some of the items have actually gone up in price - eg Action Man ATOM bike thingy, which I'm sure was about £6 when I last looked, is now £10. Not really a sale as such, but still some good prices (eg Cranium Balloon Lagoon £7.50 - RRP £20).

not amusing at all really. theres a big difference between magic where you pull a rabbit out of a hat and stuff like ouija boards, and the occult that Harry Potter books refer to!
#12
wonder why he sells Power Rangers Mystic Force that magic and stuff!!

it was actually an honest question and I am intrigued.

As I am unware of all this hype about him not stocking certain product!

no need to get all b i t c h y.

This sale is actually pretty rubbish, nothing there that's cheaper than amazon. A waste of time looking for bargains there, nothing's so cheap that you should buy it if you didn't already want it.

Voting COLD for being a waste of time and not actually identifying any good deal.
#16
Voted HOT!

I, too, find the comment about "freaks" highly offensive - as a parent I don't want my children's heads with Halloween, Harry Potter and witches etc.
I want my children to have a childhood.

The statement "nothing there cheaper than amazon" is false. I checked on just a couple of items that would be of interest to my children and found :

Superman Inflato-suit Amazon £5.99 Vs Entertainer £5 (17% cheaper)
Coinsorter by gadgetshop Amazon £16.90 Vs Entertainer £9.95 (42% cheaper)
WWE Championship title belt Amazon £10.99 Vs Entertainer £8.95 (19% cheaper)

there will be others, and some will be more than Amazon on others, but they are competitive.
For a small independent outfit like The Entertainer, I think they go a great job for the consumer considering the might of Amazon's purchasing power and the like, and help keep prices down for us. At the end it's all about choice - so don't knock them with sweeping judgments that are not simply supported by facts.

The Entertainer are amateurs...I ordered the Doctor Who helmet back in October, and was told it was out of stock by an e-mail that included about 25 other personal e-mail addresses, including mine. So much for the privacy statment they have on the website.Ridiculous, and no such thing as customer service to put it right either..

Erm...Harry Potter is a child's book
Erm...witches don't exist
Erm...halloween is just an excuse to dress in scary outfits and pig out on sweeties

They are all aimed at children. Stucking them up a chimney to act as sweeps robs them of a childhood, abuse robs them of a childhood and being force fed adult themes and ideas robs them of a childhood.

For god's sake get a grip! The comment about freaks was uncalled for, but so are the righteous indigination follow ups.

The point about why stock magic tricks but not Harry Potter is valid as it makes a mockery of the stance of the owner. How about banning Sylvannian families then as they stand on 2 feet, rather than 4 - now that's the work of the devil! What about Bratz - they are horrible, overly sexualised kids toys - get rid of them too!

:x Must calm down.

Back on topic: for the record, the sale isn't very good

WWE Rey Mysterio and john cena dress up £8.95 for kids christams pressies.....RESULT

They do a nice line in WWE accessories, Cage Fighting, etc. I'm sure any parent who wants their child to become engrossed in these fads rather than being encouraged to read well-written books by a respected author will appreciate these.

What a bunch of hypocrites. And they're not "a small independent" either - they have 41 shops.

The bottom line though is if you don't like 'em, don't use 'em. I certainly don't.

You mean to tell me john cena is not a respected author, i find his his articles on THUGONOMICS funny yet thought provoking.

As far as I was aware the "Occult" stuff was about "knowledge of the paranormal" as an adult I know these magic "tricks" are not real (I also know Harry Potter is not real), but when I was a child, I damn well beleived that Paul Daniels had just made that person disappear. So what they are ok providing you sit your child down first and careful explain that magic isn't real? I think a far better stance would be as someone else has posted to remove the bratz prostitute things.

Thanks for the support on Bratz - I can't stand the horrible little tarts!

I agree with the point about magic too - if you want to frighten kids about magic, let them watch The Prestige - a great film!

I work in the 42nd shop of the entertainer and this is all pretty amusing to read! As for not opening on a sunday, its a great idea for the staff  but when i get moaned at by customers who were there on sunday morning waiting for it to open... not so good.

As for harry potter, its his shop, he can do what he likes. we always tell customers to go to tesco down the way :whistling:

Bratz, i completely agree they are horrible i hate the things. most of them have skirts that look like belts. its just a shame that they are ridiculously popular.

also, some things are cheaper in store than online.

i do think that it is refreshing in this day and age to have a quite large scale chain keep to traditional values. and i love my sunday morning in bed.
#25
please give me your ideas....

underground ernie airport set is 24.95 on there. Does anyone know of any cheaper?
#26
Don't buy the underground ernie set, it will break within weeks (if not days)!

i wasn't whining, just curious... Being religious I can understand, £12 for a small bottle of soap I cannot.

Merged into the entertainer merchant... please try not to create new ones for those already in the list...

I had a walk round the Uxbridge store at lunchtime. Quite a lot of stuff was reduced and it was very busy. I guess there must have been some bargains to be had. I find the Entertainer tends to cater for younger children - I couldn't find anything for my 10 year old.
Can we please quit with the stupid comments about what they do and don't sell, and stick to the topic. Which is Deals.

i feel that the owner of the entertainer should be applauded for his actions and not selling harry potter and not opening on a sunday.
Its nice to see some christian beliefs being enforced even if he is losing money.

Christian beliefs VS Harry Potter??????? How?

Wrestling figures, Power Rangers Mystic Force, toy guns...how do these fit in with Christian beliefs? By all means, don't open on a Sunday, but the rest is utter nonsense.

Sorry...care toexplain?

Obviously you do know the facts, so care to evangelise?

Also, as regards biting whatever bait you laid, if you read the thread, you'll see that I questioned it a while back.

Well im pleased with the sale- i purchased a power ranger megazord 2 weeks ago for the extortionate price of £40  The site is selling the same one for £20 plus another megazord for £20 so ive ordered both for my son- this means he will have 2 for the price i paid for the other from argos- which will be promptly returned when these arrive. :santa:
