Great Great Price, I paid £26 for this in May. Im a Big Fan!!

Amazing series with one of the most original premise and combinations of the UK's Edward Woodward & Life in New York City, bringing retribution to the criminal world.

Think its the only show to win an Emmy after it was cancelled, and was only cancelled because CBS was peaved off because Universal doubled the price on an episode of Murder She Wrote and out of spite cancelled the Equalizer even though it was their highest rated show.

No extra's on the DVD's bar a few minutes and commentary on an episode by Micheal Sloan the creator. Check out Ebay as there is a guy who has made an amazing Behind the Scences DVD and a Fan CD-ROM which well make up for the missing stuff.

Ran for 4 Series 88 Episodes but there is zero chances of the other 3 series being released due to music rights issue's :(......
Used to love this!
Was ony young at the time and didn't really understand it so not sore why lol.

Heat added :D
HOT - is it wrong I had a crush on Edward Woodward?
HOT - is it wrong I had a crush on Edward Woodward?

YES hehe
Never heard of this show, sounds like a solo A-Team.
He was a solo A-team! lol
I loved this series.
Makes you wonder why the big TV channels Stateside haven't recreated it. I mean, Hawaii 5-0 is meant to be making a comeback!

The name's McCall.........Robert McCall.

The Equalizer (Robert McCall) is a former agent of a shadowy, unnamed government agency, who is trying to make up for the unspoken sins of his past. His atonement comes in the form of an advertisement in the New York Yellow Pages that features the above quote. McCall uses his finely honed skills, and occasionally, the agents and resources from his old agency, to combat the injustices perpetrated against those who can't seek protection from the law. He battles corrupt politicians, abusive husbands, greedy corporate executives, stalkers, kidnappers and gangsters to avenge those who are helpless. Sometimes, McCall's past comes back to haunt him when spies and international terrorists set foot in New York City and his former employer drags him back in to help track them down.

In McCall's dark world, few people can be trusted. One man he always relies on is his former fellow agent, Mickey Kostmayer, who often assists McCall in his cases. Another is his former boss, a man known only as, Control, who pulls government strings to give McCall a hand when he can.

British actor Edward Woodward plays Robert McCall to perfection, bringing a dark undercurrent of anger and sorrow to the man while still allowing his compassion for the downtrodden to show through. The series ran for four years on CBS, premiering in 1985 and ending in 1989.
Ok....time for some Robert McCall quotes:

My all-time favourite (he said this to some musclebound crook):

"I am the war you must avoid"

Cool. I like that one!
More please!
How do you add pictures on here?
I think another was with some bent copper he grabbed by the throat:

"I DO NOT FORGIVE" (he said this a few times to him!)
yeah, and I loved the line " I'll be back "
But how do you add a pic on the bit where you write here?
I used to like the theme tune
top notch post night 9pm stuff on itv back in the 80's .. classic stuff
[edit] Quotes
“ When the scales of justice become unbalanced; only one man can set them straight. Edward Woodward is "The Equalizer" ”

-Tag line from the USA Network.

"You wanted to know what I do for a living? I KILL people". (McCall to a dinner date lady friend)

"All you need to know is that I'm going to crack you wide open." (McCall to a man on the street.)

"Please don't do anything you will never live to regret." (McCall to the same man.)

"Oh, I am someone you really wouldn't want to get to know..." (McCall emerging from the shadows)

"And you will not like what I do one...little...bit!" (McCall confronting someone at a social event, physically shoving him while talking)

Marley: "You're a dead man!"
McCall: "And you, are a fool!"

Marley: "Go to hell!"
McCall: "After you, sir! After you!"
(Exchanges between McCall and an arsonist framing him for a murder)

"This is Robert McCall. If you will leave your name, message, and number I will get back to you as soon as possible. I don't want to, but I will." (McCall's answering machine message)

"Such humor, such finesse...from such a jerk." - McCall to mafioso bodyguard.

"I haven't been on the run in years! Where the hell do I start?" - an exchange between McCall and Control, after Control broke McCall out of jail

"I figure you're here 'cause you need some whacko who's willing to stick his finger in the fan. So who are we helping?" (Mickey speaking to McCall)
No extra's on the DVD's bar a few minutes and commentary on an episode by Micheal Sloan the creator.

I thought the commentary on the Pilot episode was only present on the Region 1 Box Set and not included on the Region 2 Box Set :?:
great theme tune and opening credits

yep sorry i have both sets,my bad

A lot of future stars started on on shows like The Equalizer like Laurence Fishburne, Melissa Joan Hart, John Goodman, Christian Slater , Kevin Spacey, Macaulay Culkin & even Adam Ant & Meatloaf were in it.

My Favourite episode is Dead Drop from Season 1

Loved the way McCall helped people out, like Clarence the Taxi driver when McCall stole his Taxi cab and locked ihim in a phone booth in the Episode Counterfire with Arsonist Marley (Vincent D'Onofrio, who also played a mentally disabled man as well in the series) when he escaped from the court.

He later turns up in Later Episodes as a Limo Driver helping out McCall it was really cool the way they did that bringing characters back in.

His assurance to his clients that he would get them out of so impossible situations for them

"Dont Be Affraid, be Angry"
"Hold on Mr. Konig, Hold on"

Some of the stories were fantastic, was probably the first TV series I remember where the good guys didnt totally win everytime, something wrong could have happened which always gave you food for thought.

Definately a show not to be missed.
Back to my crush....
Come on hes gorgeous!!! Although looking now hes not as hot as I remember LOL (sorry Ed). Story of my life...
Ooh and his sometimes sidekick Mickey - actually he was a crush too!

God I'm in 80's melt down!!! My excuse is there wasnt alot of good telly on at 9pm in those days.
But how do you add a pic on the bit where you write here?
