Want a card for free booking on ryanair now that the entropay card is charged. Not looked into it but it says this card is:

FREE to make purchases
FREE to Top-up at phones 4u
FREE to Share Money

....and its a prepaid master card so might be a better option than Caxtonfx Currency Card (minimum load up £100) or Fairfx, both have charges when paying for flights

....and its got a nice picture on the front

i've was thinking of getting one of these - this wouldnt be the card I would chose though as Ryanair flights (the ones I book lol) are usually a maximum of about £20 if that! so I wouldnt want to be restricted to putting £100 on, might be useful to more lavish spenders than me though lol

I don't think this card is minimum £100 pound load up, I meant it is good that it isn't, I'm in the same boat as you. An alternative is Caxtonfx Currency Card which is minimum £100 load up plus purchase fees

I've got one of these, there's no minimum top up. They were very slow at sending it out though, so order early. I'd have got the FairFX Anywhere Card instead if it'd be been available when I ordered this.

http://www.dailystarcashcard.com/ is another worthy card, minimum load is £5 at postoffice, I got one a few weeks go. Minimum transaction cost is 50p so ideal for all those cheap ryan air flights!

Not directly criticising this card, but apparently the reason for so many of these stored-funds cards springing up is not out of some altruism to help us avoid bloating Ryanair's profits, but that State benefits CAN be paid onto such cards, and hence the latest financial con is to dupe those (relatively poor) people to elect to have their benefits paid directly onto such cards so loads of fees of 50p here, or £1 there, or 5% or 10% or whatever charges can be merrilly (for the financiers) be whittling away the benefit claimant's few £s (...and probably some salesman can claim an introduction bonus for conning them into electing their benefits paid onto such a card, instead of a free basics bank account/debit card!)

Makes you want to puke yet again at how financial institutions can treat people. There was an MP, or a responsible financial journalist, on Radio 4 the other week hoping that the state payment authorities could be persuaded to at least issue a "did you realise you'll be losing fees/charges/commission if/when you use that card", or even refusing to pay benefits onto such cards!

How come? I thought because of the FairFX Anywhere card transaction fee, this escape card would work out cheaper

you can also buy them in your local phones 4u store

I have this card and can confirm that is can be used to avoid RyanAir's payment fees.

I chose this card as there is no monthly charge and no transaction fees when you use the card. Top is free and instant at any Phones4U store. Beware of other pre-paid Mastercards that charge you for topping up, using the card and sometimes even a monthly fee.

If you order online, you can pay the £10 fee from your PAYG credit *cough*

Seriously considering one of these, if not for Ryanair then you can use it to buy stuff overseas safer and buy things from PSN USA.

Can you top this up online or do you have to go into the store to do it?

Well I bought one using an old scan of my passport bio page as the evidence they needed.

I haven't had an email through from them straight after paying the membership fee though (which has now gone up to £9.99 by the way). Is that normal?

Well what an absolute pain, I've already voted hot on this deal but I really wish I could take it back.

I paid them yesterday lunchtime and received no confirmation email (definite negative as far as I'm concerned) and then received a text this morning asking me to call them on an 0844 number to complete the verification process and it turned out that even though they already had a copy of my passport bio page, they wanted copies of utility bills to be sent in the post as well, and all for a crappy little prepaid credit card.

When I called them the phone just rang out for ages before anyone answered and when they finally did it was some random Indian call centre woman who answered citing a different company name. Avoid this organisation like the plague.
