I'll get to the point immediately.
A master piece has been ruined, its that simple, the grainy parts are to extreme and frequent to be over looked.

At times your watching a snow storm

this review is about the quality of the blu-ray film is still very gripping. Just for you info I am watching this on a sony 42"TV with a 5'1 DTS system. You will no doubt be buying this because you know the film, excellent. I have to agree there are parts of this film that when you watch are so grainy it looks like a snow storm.I thought this maybe because of the directors cut where film of less quality had been inserted into the original release but no the second disc has the same problem. On the plus side the sound is excellent, and if you are buying this for the first time it is still better than the DVD, its just a shame the quality drops on a few occasions

Excellent on Blu Ray

Ignore the people saying this does not look good on Blu Ray - the film looks better than it did in the cinema - the only people who will not like this are those that expect film grain to be removed by digital processes. The detail is superb, the lighting, colour and sound are great. People should not expect all films to be messed with to look like they were filmed yesterday.....it looks like a FILM not an HD TV programme, which is exactly what a true film fan would be looking for. Highly recommended.

110%, ive never heard that before. The fact someone mentions it is better than the dvd says it all - its the best this film will look.

Voted hot!

Always make me laugh when people moan about film grain. People who expect every release to look like iron man instead of staying true to the original source. Would they rather dnr them to hell.

I wouldn't trust those review. Go to a professional website for review, the the reviewer actually knows what there talking about.

I have this blu-ray and can confirm the transfer is awesome.

Yes it has some grain, but only somebody ignorant of how transfers work would criticise it for that. If all the grain was removed, the picture would be ruined.

Exactly, Grain is what the picture is made out of! Get rid of grain = Less detail

Best horror film ever made to this day. Just has a feel of pure evil around it.
