'C'mon. We all wished he had played for our team.

The George Best Story

George Best is arguably the greatest player ever to set foot on a football pitch. Blessed by genius, he had the confidence and arrogance to try absolutely anything matched to a charismatic character that reached a far greater audience than those on the terraces at Old Trafford.

The first of the new footballing superstars, Best marked the transition of players from simply dedicated professionals to pop culture icons. Unable to cope with the temptations of his celebrity lifestyle, indulged himself to excess in alcohol, late nights and women and as a consequence walked out on top flight football aged just 26.

In this video, Best will take you back to his home town of Belfast and introduce you to his family and friends. Catch a glimpse of Best playing on his local park where he was spotted by a Manchester United talent scout before journeying to Old Trafford for an in-depth profile of his career at the 'Theatre Of Dreams'.

George Best: Best Intentions

George Best is the most controversial footballing icon of his generation. This programme is the definitive biography, covering George Best's life from his humble beginnings in Belfast, through his meteoric rise to fame and features contributions from Sir Bobby Charlton, Denis Law, Jimmy Greaves and the late Sir Matt Busby.

And as with all football deals this one is bound to turn into a mindless cold voting frenzy by fans of Man City, Leeds, Arsenal, Liverpool etc.

And you wonder why we don't see many football deals posted. Jezuz. Grow up.

I'm a dyed in the wool City fan, and I'd be cockahoop if there was a Colin Bell DVD like this at this price, so I can see through my blue tinted glasses and see and post a bargain.

I keep it to the terraces, and sometimes the pub if I'm watching City away. But football is the nearest thing we have to tribal warfare these days and it's in our blood;-)

You're right with 1990. But (and everyone remembers that he was sent off), but he wasn't sent off. He got a yellow card in the semi final, which ruled him out of the final (if we had got there). He cried 'cos he wanted to play in the final and that was his second yellow of the tournament which ruled him out of the next match ie the final. It kinda went downhill for him from that moment onwards.

Check the rules about posting deals deek:thumbsup:

Not that your valued judgement on why you vote cold matters one iota to me

I'm saddened to see cold votes for this. It's obviously a hot deal.
George was a genius who unfortunately and sadly had an illness he never managed to overcome.

No, he was a great player with an even greater ego who over decades squandered chance after chance to change his life around, he played on peoples memories of him being a great player, if you remember this "star" beat his wife up on more than one occasion was sent to prison for drink driving and ruined a replacement liver in around 4 years, a "role model" certainly in "how not to live your life" however good a footballer he was does NOT make up for the fact of as a man he was a waster.

I presume then that you mean you are allowed to re-post the same deal after so long? So have we got a re-run of all your old deals to look forward to? Great, can't wait! Just hold on a bit while I get comfy.

You do that :w00t:

Or, perhaps you could try posting a deal yourself instead of trolling around criticising other peoples deals. But I doubt you will.

Pronanly?:?

:p

Nothing wrong with re-highlighting a bargain although bumping the original thread is probably the easiest thing to do.

It's very sad that people write off the deal simply because Best had some really bad problems that overtook him. Yet for while he was the greatest footballer in the world and he certainly remains in the top ten of recent times.

If you weren't alive during the sixties and seventies, you will have no idea how Best dominated football. He then went on to dominate the tabloids for all the wrong reasons but he wasn't known as the fifth Beatle for nothing.

The best Best story?

He was brought breakfast in bed in a top London hotel. The detritis of a debauched night was in evidence. Empty Champagne bottles were scattered around and the current Miss World beauty queen was naked in bed beside him with the bed and floor covered in thousand of pounds of notes that had been won on the gambling tables.

As the waiter went out the door, George heard him mutter - "Oh George, where did it all go wrong?"

As Best himself said:

"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."

Priceless:thumbsup:

I do when I come across them but some of us have a life away from HUKD. 3,000 posts in 3 months? Think you probably need to go out a little more. I don't want to enter into a slanging match but although you post a lot of deals, with one or two notable exceptions (pillows and pans come to mind, good deals!) most of your deals are not much to write home about, unless you like dvd's.

HOW DARE YOU COME ON HERE AND MAKE SNAP JUDGEMENTS AND CRITICISMS OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
