Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger dynasty. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder – and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, truculent computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet’s disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

Would be a good price if it wasn't coming from the Hut group - so you're unlikely to get it. Not voted either way.

Nice find Andy - works out at £6.62 using the code in conjunction with my More Th>n discount. Voted hot.

superb film & great book too!

This is a very good detective story and a fine film, but why you would want to watch it in Blu-ray. Most of the filming is (deliberately) bleak and some scenes are best watched with your eyes closed!!

Agree that the Millenium trilogy books are fantastic but have watched both films released so far and have been slightly disappointed with the conversion to film. There are always compromises transferring books to screen but I also found some of the acting a bit wooden (perhaps apart from the main characters). Both myself and wife agreed that we wouldn't have enjoyed the films as much if we hadn't already read the books.
Anyway this is HUKD and not Film 2011 so still voting hot as a good deal for a fairly recent bluray release..

Two films released? All three have been released, haven't they? And extended editions of all three. I take it this is the standard edition, and not the Millennium Miniseries Extended Edition.
#7
Sorry if this is a daft question but is it subtitled?

Thanks for answering a question I had. I've got the book on order and was wondering whether it would be best to watch the film or read the book first. Looks like its the book first.

In response to my own question, I have now found out that it is indeed subtitled.

Cheers.

Anyone know if this still ships with the slipcover?

All 3 films have been released in Swedish, however Dragon tattoo is the only one out on DVD at the moment. Played with Fire is next week and Hornets Nest is early April.

Code BESTTEN - not being accepted: "The discount code you entered is not an active offer."

All three are out on DVD (and Bluray), and the extended editions were even released six months ago. But I see that they haven't yet had a UK release, I thought the days had gone when the UK got a release so much later.

Good films, watched them before Xmas when I was waiting for deliveries & had to keep the volume down to make sure I heard the doorbell. Was a good time to catch up on subtitled films!
#17
I would definitely recommend reading the books first! You will get much more enjoyment out of them!

Stand slightly corrected, just had an email from Amazon saying Played with Fire has shipped...
