Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her body was never found, yet her uncle is convinced it was murder - and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed, truculent computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link Harriet's disappearance to a number of grotesque murders from forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. But the Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

I enjoyed the three books by this author. Best books I have read in a long while.

Is this a trilogy then or just that the author has written 3 books. Is this a standalone book? Thanks.

It's part of the author's 'Millennium Trilogy', I think you could probably read the individual books on their own, this one is the first anyway so you could start with it and you'll probably want to go onto read the others too..... The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest.

Incidentally, this is the same price on Amazon, all three paperbacks can be bought for around £11 from both Play & Amazon.

Best to read as a trilogy, as endings wouldn't make much sense otherwise. Not a bad set of books, and this one is out on dvd, but I don't know if it is any good.

Bloomin good. Watch it before the Hollywood remake appears.

A great book, the first of three, this is a really good price too (great find OP), watch for the other two in the likes of sainsburys, I've seen them recently on the '2 for £7' offer which would complete your set.
the movies are good too, the english voice dub is hardly noticeable at all.

I'm sorry I have'nt replied earlier but I see that your question has been answered. Buy the three books and enjoy good thrillers! Along the same lines (excuse the pun) is The Snowman by Jo Nesbo.
