INSTORE ONLY - As ever with HMVs annoying sale pricing policy its £15 instore but £17.99 online, per the link. Great price though for those that can get instore. (Like me when picking u my bargain bluray player!)

For those that dont know.....

The Godfather: (1972)
Considered by many to be the greatest movie ever made, Francis Ford Coppola's epic masterpiece features Oscar winner Marlon Brando as the head of the Corleone family. Coppola paints a chilling portrait of a Sicilian family's rise and near fall from power in America, and the passage of rites from a father to a son who was previously uninvolved in the business.

Godfather Part II: (1974)
The Godfather Part II is one of the rare breed of cinematic sequels which is as good as, and perhaps better than, the original. Al Pacino heads the star cast as Michael Corleone, heir to the criminal empire established by his Mafioso father, the late Don Corleone.

Michael is now in charge of all gambling activities in Nevada, making certain that any and all political or mob enemies are quickly bought off, compromised, or disposed of. Throughout the film, Michael's travails are paralleled with the early experiences of his father, played in flashbacks by Robert DeNiro.

The Godfather III: (1990)
In the final instalment of the Godfather Trilogy, an aging Don Michael Corleone seeks to legitimise his crime family's interests and remove himself from the violent underworld.

Now in his sixties, Michael is dominated by two passions: freeing his family from crime, and finding a suitable successor. That successor could be fiery Vincent (Andy Garcia)... but he may also be the spark that turns Michael's hopes of business legitimacy into an inferno of mob violence.

OP can you please check your boxset to see if Disc 2 is faulty?

well known manufacturing error causing Disc 2 to glitch, don't know if HMV have a new batch, can't be bothered with all the hassle of replacements.

When you say glitch, does that mean pixelate/jump when playing feature or something else?

Will try running disc once got new player set up.

there're quite a few comments about faulty Disc 2 over at amazon:

"Godfather II, however, stopped playing from 1:41:32 until 1:55:03."

I got one from HMV in November and found disc 2 to have the 1.41 hour skip/freeze problem, ended up sending it back for a refund. Its a great deal if you have no problems.

I got a price alert email the other day from 'Select Cheaper' selling the (non-blu ray) dvd boxset for £2.09!!

I was in HMV the other day and noticed there were two Blu-Ray boxsets. One red'ish and one blue'ish. I wonder if that signifies old/new release? I couldn't be bothered to queue up and ask the difference. I doubt they knew anyway. However, london Moorgate had like a gazzilion copies lying around a few days ago.

I'm just back from Oxford Street and bought the Limit BluRay player for £50 . :w00t:

I did not see a Blue Ray Boxset of the Godfather for £15. The boxset was £25 in the HMV across from the Marks and Spencer store. In the store across from Bond Street station the Godfather boxset was £45.

Going to look online and see if I can order it from HMV online! Godfather 1 & 2 would be wicked movies to show off Blu Ray with!

Anyone know any Sci-Fi with a print that makes the Blu-Ray worth it?

:santa:

Aberdeen store has one copy at £45 and the dvd set at £15. This one was at £25 instore but they had all sold out fast at that price! so good luck anyone!

None in Edinburgh fort :-(
#19
so did anybody else apart from the OP managed to get this?? how come this deal got so hot when no one else has confirmed the Bluray boxset is £15??
#20
Had a look in Swansea today and it was £25 reduced from £45.
#21
Left my digi cam in work so will need to take a picture on phone and email to myself to post "evidence". In the meantime Barcode sticker states:

Normally £45 Sale Price £15
10905902579690015006
Coppola, F Godfather: Blu
BSP2032 090BS 767 479

Like I said in original post, typical HMV sale, with some stock in the sale and some not, though I suspect that those that were reduced to £25 may have been miswritten on pink sale sticker. What did barcode on those say?
#22
Didn't read the barcode, I might go back and have a look tomorrow as I'm going to town anyway.

That really does my head in with HMV. I once got caught out by it, was picking up Duchovny's Californication for £10 (cant rememeber exact price) but the copy wasnt shrinkwrapped so picked up one of the 10 discs behind it on the shelf and went to the counter, to which the girl said that'll be £35 please! Swiftly went back and got the £10 one.

Also seems to be a similar story on the Beatles Value Band set, with some stores doing all platforms for £45 but others doing Wii, 360 & PS3 at varying prices from £45 to £50.
