In a marvelous parallel world where witches soar the skies and Ice Bears rule the frozen North, one special girl is destined to hold the fate of the universe in her hands. When Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) becomes the keeper of the Golden Compass, only she has the ability to read its portent messages and prevent her world - and all others - from slipping into an evil darkness.

Possibly the worst website to order from, but if it works for you then it is a good deal for quality BD.
#2
Rubbish film; not even vaguely comparable to the books and it did badly at the box office so it's unlikely the story will ever be continued on film in the future. You can get the books for around this price (at thebookpeople).

The books will always be better, so your point here is well, pointless! A good deal IMHO.

yer joking arn't ya

well, at least the movie *looks* pretty spectacular so the one area where blu-ray can improve a movie should be well catered for.

I thought the film did a pretty good job of capturing the surface of the book - as above I think it looks great. Shame it didn't get to the 'meat' of the story... but really, can you imagine that a truly faithful adaptation would have been a successful movie in terms of mass popularity? I doubt it... especially heading into the second and third books.

Actually, it did pretty good boxoffice internationally....'just' US was poor. I thought it was a pretty good film and was looking forward to them attempting 2 and 3. I recon they thought that if the US public couldn't stomach the 'veiled' anti religion message of the first they'd be up in arms about the 2 and 3 (where you couldn't hide it without making the film meaningless).

Whatever, if you liked the books then at a fiver on blu-ray you can't go wrong....IMO.

Do you also find "The Hut" to be the very worst website to order from?
I have tried three different browsers and can not order a thing!
IE times out, Opera does not go through redirecting page from Quidco, FF just can not add it to basket and it is not the first time it happens to me (only at work though, hmmm).

Never used them myself. Generally I just wait until Play is the cheapest/same price. Strange but true...I'm just not in any rush to buy anything at the mo as I'm still working through a few DVD TV box sets and waiting for blu-rays to drop to under a fiver.
