The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, written by Age Scarpelli, Luciano Vincenzoni and Sergio Leone is the third and last western in Clint Eastwood's spaghetti trilogy. Director Sergio Leone substitutes for the upright puritan Protestant ethos, so familiar in Hollywood westerns, a seedy cynical standpoint towards death and mortality, as a team of brutal bandits battle to unearth a fortune buried beneath an unmarked grave. Joining Clint, clearly "The Good", is the irredeemably "Bad" Lee and the resolutely "Ugly" Eli Wallach. The complete plot of bloodshed and betrayal winds its way through the American Civil War, filmed to resemble the French battlefields of World War One, to end in the climatic Dance Of Death. Arguably the quintessential Italian Western, this 1966 film boasts a fine Ennio Morricone score featuring a main theme that reached No. 1 in the world's pop charts. This special edition DVD has been restored to its full length with the addition of three missing scenes from the original Italian version.
Special Features
'Leone's West' documentary on the making of the film with Eastwood and Wallach, and producer Alberto Grimaldi
'Leone's Style' documentary on the impact of Leone's Spaghetti Western phenomenon with Eastwood, Wallach, Grimaldi and genre expert and historian Richard Schickel
'The Man Who Lost the Civil War' documentary into the background of the setting of the film
An audio commentary with genre expert and film historian Richard Schickel
'Restoring The Good The Bad and The Ugly' featurette on reconstruction and re-recording of audio tracks
'The Secorro Sequence: A Reconstruction', an animated gallery of missing sequences with stills and footage
Never-before-scene extended Tuco Torture scene, which was dropped from all theatrical versions
'Il Maetsro' featurette featuring Variety music critic on the creation of Ennio Morricone's unforgettable score
'Il Maestro Part 2' audio featurette offering an extended insight into Morricone's music
French trailer which includes clips deleted from the final version
4 Easter Eggs

I believe some Poundshops are selling the 1 disc, unextended, unremastered version of this; but seriously, if you are a fan of this film then this is THE version to own on DVD and this is an awesome price for it. I already own this and it truly is a great set.

This film is proof that old movies can be remastered amazingly well. Picture is amazing for a film made in 1966, and the 5.1 surround sound will blow you away. Have heard the blu ray of this is amazing aswell.
