The Nation's Favourite bedtime story is being brought to life in an all star beautiful adaptation of the best-selling book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.

The film's all-star voice cast features Robbie Coltrane as the Gruffalo; Helena Bonham Carter as the narrator; Rob Brydon as the Snake; James Corden as the Mouse; John Hurt as the Owl and Tom Wilkinson as the Fox.

The Gruffalo tells the magical tale of a mouse who takes a walk through the woods in search of a nut. Encountering three predators who all wish to eat him - a fox, an owl and a snake - the plucky mouse has to use his wits to survive, creating an imaginary monster who then turns out to be only too real.

The Gruffalo is due to be broadcast as part of BBC 1's Christmas day programming. This is your chance to own this all-new Christmas cracker!

Excellent book and they did a decent job at bringing it to life with the film. A bit expensive for a 30 minute film but has to be voted hot as my 3 and 2 year old boys loved it on Christmas day. heat added

The gruffalo is officially the nations favorite bedtime story. it was voted that in a radio 2 poll. still i think i will wait till it goes for a couple of quid and the kiddies can read the book and watch it on the sky planner:)

My sons love the Gruffalo so Thanks preordered!

should have been a 10-15 min film, our kids were bored after the first few minutes. Great production, just tries to stretch the story out too long.

My little sisters favourite that one is. I never really rated the Gruffalo, and don't remember it lasting more than 10 minutes on TV!

I agree.

I have read the Gruffalo to both my daughters on many occasions to the point they can tell the story word for word with out the book in front of them!

I did think the BBC version was a little too long, too much padding.

I agree, thet did stretch it out a bit too long, 15 minutes would've been much better.

Having said that, the animation was brilliant and hopefully they'll do some more (Gruffalo's Child maybe) next year.

The Gruffalo book is cool, but nothing on Maurice Sendak's 'Where The Wild Things Are' which Donaldson and Scheffler "borrowed". Not a bad deal tho if your into it :]

You're second post in 5 months, I take it you are either Maurice Sendak in person or a close relative! :-D

it was a decent programme, i watched it on BBC HD and it looked great, so if it isnt coming out on Bluray then i doubt ill ever buy it.

It should be £3 like the Tesco exclusive Merry Madagascar, thats 30 mins too. But i bought that as it probably wont get cheaper and im presuming other stores wont sell it until next xmas.

Yes - someone had it as their reading book when I was in school yesterday! They've just brought out a ds flips game with magic faraway tree stories on.
We have a video with about 10 stories on too!
