Seems To Be rated highly as very good horror flick was posted 2 years ago but worth a repost as back when you least expect it as a deal !!!!!
An evil old house, the kind some people call haunted, is like an undiscovered country waiting to be explored. Hill House had stood for 90 years and might stand for 90 more. Silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House and whatever walked there, walked alone."

Thus begins one of the most chilling, most frightening, truly unforgettable horror films ever. Dr. Markway is an anthropologist with a special interest in psychic phenomena who wants to try a true exercise in terror. Intrigued by the legend of Hill House, he invites two women, psychic researchers, to join him in his adventure. Mrs. Sammerson, who has inherited the old mansion, is suspicious of Dr. Markway's intentions and insists that her young nephew Luke go along with the group. Luke is a skeptic about the supernatural, until he enters Dr. Markway's eerie world...

Just goes to show how the mind along with decent camera angles and sound effects can create so much more suspense than your usual "horror" film..a true psychological horror film

This is my favourite horror film. It's so eerie and unsettling, it creeps me out everytime I watch it.

I have seen The Innocents, and whilst in the same sort of vain, I personally think The Haunting is better, old skool film at its best, solid acting, suspense, camera direction and sound effects.

I had to wade in with my opinion when I saw this film posted. As everyone else has said, its a true classic, nay, masterpiece! Far superior to just about every modern horror, watch it at night with the lights off and I guarantee you will be very unsettled!

Uh, good one, I will go on a DVD binge once money makes itself present!

Only the exterior shots. The internal ones were done at the less lovely Borehamwood. At least, that's what Wikipedia says.
