The Hoxton Hotel £1.00 Sale - 11th April 2008

The date is now official!

Dear "My Hox" Subscriber,
The 11th April at 12pm (UK Time) marks the official start of our next £1 sale.
Once again we will have 1,000 bedrooms up for grabs on our website: 500 at £1 and 500 at £29, for dates between the 1st May 31st July 2008.

During the last sale in January, we sold all 1,000 rooms within 29 minutes and had over 300,000 people trying to book so you'll need to be quick... If you dont manage to get a room at either £1 or £29, there are some other great deals available including:

? £79 for rooms over the May and August Bank Holidays
? Rooms in August available from just £30
? Friday & Saturdays in September only £79

Remember, there are limited quantities of rooms at the above rates so book early to take advantage
To make the sale as fair as possible you are only allowed to book one room, for one night at a £1; if we find anyone misbehaving they will lose all their bookings sorry, those are the rules.

To help make the process easier and to try and reduce confusion we have provided a clear step-by-step guide of how to book. Study hard as the quicker you are the luckier you will be.
Good luck!

David Taylor

i would not really be intrested as they purposley play aorund with peoples time. just yesterday the sale was ment to commence at 9.00am, which they canceled. created a big hype about the sale and o guess what the next day they say this is ournew sale date. always hate companies after free publicity. would not be suprised if they cancel on the last minute and re-sedcule it agian. there very famous for doing that. 3 months ago they canceled 2 times.

Yay! :D I had no idea it had been cancelled! was sat on a bus at 9am yesterday so thought i'd missed it!! thank you xx
#3
also i have not got any email from them about thier sale date. last time i did, so hence bogus sale date to create hype like they always do
#4
I got an email about this sale date this morning - but didn't get one about the previous sale date.
Odly my wife has yet to receive one but she is also registered?

The fact that it's 12 o'clock as usual suggests this to be genuine.

I think this should be in the Competitions section

You may have something there. Perhaps more of a lottery than a competition though.

Spot on, mate! It's a bit like having a punt on the lottery. Big timewaster.

Have tried this twice with no luck. Waste of time and effort. Cold.

Bargain!

You say that, but I got a room on my third go! Not that I'm trying to encourage people = more rooms for me :) (I know I won't get another though!)

Don't bother - even if one or two punters manage to get a room, Hoxton play this trick to lure people in to more expensive rooms and moreover, to waste everyone's valuable time. This link in my view should never be allowed to appear on HUKD - that's my view.

Totally agree. It's a cynical marketing exercise which makes money for the Hoxton and wastes vast amounts of everybody else's time. People see the offer, assume they have a reasonable chance - and then find they've wasted an hour or two of their time for nothing.
#14
Well I have to say I have got a £1 room once and twice i have had £29 rooms. It may be a marketing ploy but what harm does 10 minutes on the web do you and if you get lucky then you get a nice cheap night away.
#15
I though't Hoxton management withdrew the last planned 1 pound room sale because of the event being leaked on MSE and 'deals websites' when it is a campaign directly aimed at subscribers to their website.

ADMIN SHOULD RESPECT THE WISHES OF THE MANAGEMENT AND REMOVE ALL HOXTON POSTS IMHO;-)

that is just stupid, i am on thier emailing list. i have not got any email from them about this, so why should thier so called wishes be respected when they clearly mislead people about thier promotions.
i would not have known about thier promotion if no one had posted it on here. since beeing on thier emailing list for about half a year i nver got any email so its thier fualt.

and no it is not in my junk folder- they just never sent it out.
#17
Good deal!! but hate it when you have to spend time just to establish a session. More or less waste of time but awesome if you get the deal.
#18
im on their mailing list and i never got any notice, i have tried several times and usually when you actually find a room you go through checkout and all of a sudden a different price comes up, oh the shock of being sucked into such a clever marketing ploy

My wife still hasn't received one either. Very odd that I did.

It is a clever marketing promo but I for one think that even their normal rates are pretty decent for a London hotel - I love staying there.

If anyone from the Hoxton is reading this then feel free to bung me some freebies for the good press!:whistling:

Agreed...you can spend a lot of money on a hotel in London and not get a place as nice as the Hoxton.

I can't understand why people vote this cold..when misprices are listed on HUKD they are voted some of the hottest deals, as you have the prospect of getting something for considerably less than it should be worth. This is an analogous situation, and there will be just as many disappointed people who don't get a room (similar to having your misprice order cancelled), the difference being that it is not a mistake, and 1000 people WILL get a bargain, guaranteed. HOT from me.

no, the fact they are well known for making sale dates and then canceling them is the reason. any company who tries to make cheap publicty from wasting peoples times is not worth it. very low and unconsiderate.

I for one have not received adavnce notice of a date that has been cancelled. I have see postponements on other HUKD and MSE threads but there is still a sale at some point near in time. Compare this to other London hotels who never have a sale then it still seesm like a bargain.

I note that I seem to have become one of those people who are defending the deal they posted -I would like to state that this only because it annoys the **** out of me that people whinge about the chance to book a cheap London hotel room - the Hotel gets free promotion and 1000 people get a cheap room. Seems like win win to me. I don't see people complaining about entering competitions because not everyone can win but the sponsoring company gets free promotion.
'Meldrew' moment over - I must be gettting old.
I don't believe it........

im not saying the thread is bad. top marks for making the thread. im just saying that hoxton try and make free publicty and marketing by wasting peoples time, tons of people complain not about not getting the rooms- but more complain about sitting on the computer wating for the sale to commence- the sale which never does commence. its all about creating word of mouth
