UPDATE 9/5/10 - Now another game is available in the pack, Samorost 2
---------------
Taken from the website:

The Humble Indie Bundle is a unique kind of bundle that we are trying out.

Pay what you want. If you bought these five games separately, it would cost around $80 but we're letting you set the price!

All of the games work great on Mac, Windows, and Linux. We didn't want to leave anyone out.

There is no middle-man. You can rest assured that 100% of your purchase goes directly to the developers and non-profits as you specify (minus credit card fees).

We don't use DRM. When you buy these games, they are yours. Feel free to play them without an internet connection, back them up, and install them on all of your Macs and PCs freely.

Your contribution supports the amazing Child's Play charity and Electronic Frontier Foundation. By default, the amount is split equally between the seven participants (including Child's Play and EFF), but you can tweak the split any way you'd like.

Rep would be much appreciated :)

World of Goo is superb - my kids love it.

Once again salmy, we are together.

@MadonnaProject I love you too :)

I know the title is 'possibly for just 1 dollar/penny' but it would be nice to chip in a bit more guys, wolfire are making an awesome ninja rabbit fighting game from the group up (awesome ikr) and you can select whether the proceeds go to a childrens charity or to the developers or split it so it's really generous.
#4
heat and repped thanks!
#5
Great deal - already own World of Goo, Aquaria and Gish - given them $5 in any case
#6
Bought - and paid much more than 1p

Thanks for this
#7
Hot.... Worth $10 just to check out the games...
#8
I really think they should raise the minimum fee. Nobody gets anything off 1p (except PayPal), so it's not even a case of every little helps.

I have Penumbra Overture and it's a great game.
#9
very nice post, heat added and a bit of rep for you too
#10
Got World of Goo last time 2DBoy did something similar. While it got many positive comments, I didn't find the game that compelling despite trying to force myself to play it. Penumbra Overture looks cool though.
#11
Just bought for 10 dollars. Top deal.
#12
Gonna buy them anyways :)

but another thought is:

can you get achievement points for games for windows on World of goo?

if so convince some achievement hunters to splash some cash :)

Just bought them too - played some of them already, great value and nice idea. I hope the idea of "pay what you want" takes off. There is nothing worse than being stung £40 for a rubbish game.

It also proves the developers can make a lot of money lightning fast this way too. If you look at the statistics at the moment they've already made $15,000 in profit. Even if the profits are split five ways thats still $3000 for half of the first day of the deal, the deal will be on for a week.

Everyone wins.

Note that if you choose amazon.com to pay, you can't do very small amounts (I tried $0.03 for a laugh - surely that's the minimum to spread evenly amongst developers, EFF and Child's Play?). I ended up moving it to $1.02 instead (34 cents to each), which did work with amazon.com.

As other people have said, they should set a sensible mimimum (e.g. $3 - $1 to each of the three recipients) so that any transaction fees still leave them with some money!
#16
Excellent, ta. Not for me, but my GFs sone will enjoy a few of these.
#17
excellent thanks.....did quite a bit more than £0.01 - as its for charity

Dont play PC games myself but will buy just to donate to this incredible company

All the money is going to charity though. Some people are only paying more than a penny because of that, otherwise the mentality would be to get something for nothing, unfortunately. Look what happened to Radiohead when they offered In Rainbows for any price, only 2 in 5 people paid, and they paid 3 quid on average. Still, interesting idea, good causes. Donating now.

I'm so retarded. I forgot that in most cases 66.66% is going to charity. Still, they're at $22,000 now one the first day which is $1500 for each developer which is great assuming that exactly 2/3 goes to charity.

So great!!!!!

You can set the % that goes to charity though!

I think more devs should drop prices on their mainstream releases.

For example Deadly Premonition which launched in America for $20 has got huge sales and a big cult following. I really hope it comes out here...
#24
I already had 2 of these but gave $10 for the others. In my opinion anyone who gives $0.01 may just as well have gone onto a torrent and downloaded them. Whether it is charity or for the developers $10 is still relatively low, but it is still another $10 in the kitty and good for charity.

Hey punkrockprincess. If i'm to help you in any way I'm gonna need a more detailed description. You could try downloading it again.
#33
Yeah tried downloading again, im on windows 7 32bit, and it says "the program can't be started because OpenAL32.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"

Sounds like a problem with your computer not the game, try reinstalling OpenAL.
#35
Just signed up to say thanks. Firstly for the deal (I paid over the minimum), and secondly for the advice getting Gish to install.

I was getting the openAL message too, went and redownloaded that (openAL) and it worked straight away.

I think you can only do this if you order through M$'s 'Games On Demand'.
But I'll let you know if it does work.

Make it...

£1 minimum
#39
Just got this myself - great deal

Anyone having problems running Gish relating to an 'openal.dll' error, I fixed mine by going here and downloading the 'oalinst' package, unzipping and running it. Obviously, you do the same at your own risk.
