Appears to be a good price for those of us that don't want to wait until 2012 for the extended Blu Ray edition.

I already own the theatrical version on dvd and my blu ray player upscales them anyway making them look amazing...so these should look pretty good played on a blu ray player.

Thanks

Why is this expired? I wish folks would leave a reply to say why they've expired the deal. Reported and asked for it to be un-expired.

Now this puts me in a dilemma - extended dvd set now or blu-ray later. :(

I already have the dvd set and the picture quality for dvd is very good as the video is a high bitrate. The blu-ray will be better but not by much as the transfers (especially the fellowship) are not as good as they should be. I'm personally sticking with the dvds as you get so much more.

Thanks, I think you've just convinced me to buy the dvd set now :3 (and I also have an upscaling dvd player, so that should help a little as well)
Just wondering, you said you get more with the dvds, does that mean there won't be any extras on extended blu-ray set?

The dvds come with 2 extra discs per film that are loaded with extras, the blu-ray trilogy thats out at the moment doesn't have much at all and no hd footage. Hopefully when they release the extended blu-rays we will get more, if so i will switch from dvd to blu-ray. That wont be for a few years though and it will likely start at a ridiculous price.

Ah, cheers. Yeah, I guess I might as well buy this, rather than waiting perpetually for the extended blu-ray.
