Return of the King won 11 Academy awards, not two.

100% Agreed, in fact i think I paid more, we got the limited edition with the Minas Tirith polystone statue, think it was about £40.
I'll probably get the Blu Ray versions also, as long as New Line release the extended versions first!!!

Are these the full films or do they have parts cut out of them?

What I mean is, if I want just the films, don't care about special features and don't care about blue ray, is this worth it?

They are the original, cinema versions. They are not the director's cut / extended editions. So they are exactly as they were in the cinema - they have stuff cut if you compare them to the extended edition.

BluRay theatrical cuts will be out in time for Xmas, but the extended versions are being held back to tie in with the release of the first Hobbit film.

The theatrical versions are substantially shorter than the extended versions which IMHO are the only versions to watch. Having said that, Peter Jackson has stated that the theatrical versions are his preferred cuts of all the films. Personally I can't see any point in missing out on an extra 1 1/2 hours or so of the finest modern motion picture making for many years.
