Some like these better than the longer versions :)

The extended versions of the film are better, have higher quality picture and sound and come with more special features than you will ever manage to watch. Getting these stripped down DVDs is a really bad choice unless you have some weird inexplicable hatred for the extended versions.

yep,the extra bits if you can spot them do nothing for me, this is is the set to own and you can watch a full movie without getting yer bum off the sofa to insert/flip part 2 of the movie as with the other set

prefer the the extended version myself, but a good deal for anyone who has yet to own the movies

Wouldn't touch the shorter ones with a barge pole.
Worth the extra to get the full length episodes.

There's actually something not in the extended version of LOTR: Return of the King that is in the theatrical Version. It's the part where Denethor was on fire. The theatrical version is funnier.

That is in the extended, and is much longer.
The extended versions are worth it for the extras alone, which are as good as the films, imo the best extras on any DVD i own...
Anyone know if there is a Blu-Ray release before the end of this year?

the theatrical versions are the way they were meant to be

dont talk rubbish

they made the film then once it was all done they cut it down to a shorter version

how the hell is cutting the original up to make it shorter how its ment to be

the DIRECTORS cut is how the director wanted it to be
